To play one early September festival could be seen as a shot in the dark, but if you manage to hit the trifecta of
Venice, Telluride and
TIFF, you know that the people behind the film have got some confidence in the finished product. Not many films ticked all three destinations off their box this year --
Sarah Polley's "
Stories We Tell,"
Michael Shannon vehicle "
The Iceman," a few others -- but one of the more prominent has been "
At Any Price," the muscular, powerful drama from "
Goodbye Solo" director
Ramin Bahrani.
Picked up by
Sony Pictures Classics a month or so back, the film stars
Dennis Quaid as a Midwestern corn farmer looking to expand, and
Zac Efron as his son, an aspiring racing driver. In Venice,
we found the film to be flawed, but also impressive in its old-fashioned,
Arthur Miller-style melodrama, with Quaid in particular delivering a performance that's worthy of some awards love. We won't see it in theaters until 2013, but SPC have released a set of new images, many of which focus on the supporting cast, including
Kim Dickens, Heather Graham and impressive newcomer
Maika Monroe. Check them all out below.
