While the Oscar talk around "Les Miserables" has pretty much stalled apart from the very, very good chance that Anne Hathaway will walk away with the trophy for her performance of "I Dreamed A Dream," the tremendous fan base have helped push the musical to over $350 million worldwide. Even more, the soundtrack is the second biggest seller of 2013 (behind "Pitch Perfect") moving 245,000 units already, with these kinds of numbers not matched on the charts since 2003. And so it's no surprise that the folks behind the film are going to take another bite at the apple.

A new, double-disc, expanded-edition soundtrack is on the way, and it will feature a staggering 22 songs not on the current release. But it's not just craven commercialism that's prompting the new CD. "Post-production on the Les Miserables film was extremely tight, with recording of the orchestra, final edit and sound mix having to be completed in only a few weeks," producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh said. "There was only enough time to remix a limited number of tracks so that at least a highlights album could be released for the fans before Christmas."

Coming with additional photos and production notes as well, the expanded edition soundtrack is currently slated for a March 18th release in the U.K. and March 19th in the U.S. Full tracklist below. [BBC/Film Music Reporter]
