10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesChris Butler and Sam Fell are at the helm of this 3D film coming from Laika, the Portland, Oregon-based animation studio who delivered the well received “Coraline” back in 2009 (a pic Butler also worked on). The film centers on Norman Babcock (Kodi Smit-McPhee) whose unique talent of being able to see dead people will come in handy when he's tasked with saving his town from a variety of supernatural monstrosities. Rounding out the impressive voice cast is Casey Affleck, John Goodman, Jeff Garlin, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Elaine Stritch.
Overall, this has a great vibe, both scary and sweet, but also inventive and fresh, a heckuva accomplishment considering the current crop of movies and TV shows featuring ghouls of all kinds on the big and small screen. This left us with a big smile on our face, so we're looking forward to it. While we might have preferred a more Hallowe'en oriented date, "ParaNorman" will hit on August 17th.
