The Cannes Film Festival kicks off on Wednesday, but even outside of films In Competition, as part of the Un Certain Regard section or in the Cannes Directors' Fortnight and Critics' Week sidebars, the field will also be extremely crowded in Cannes Market, where studios and producers come to hawk their wares to buyers. Double Dutch Media is one such company and they have a diverse slate of nine films unspooling in the marketplace this year. One of the more intriguing offerings is "Warhouse," a brutal psychological (and supernatural) thriller about one man's fight to preserve his humanity and sanity over years of terrible imprisonment.

"The Dictator" opens in just a couple of days, and while Paramount had initially moved the film to get out of the way of "Dark Shadows," it was actually "The Avengers" they would end up avoiding, as the superhero movie continued smashing box office records in week two. But if you already saw the comic book movie, then we urge you to see Sacha Baron Cohen's latest...why? Because it's pretty fucking funny.

Though recently pushed back from a spring to summer start, allowing Emma Watson the chance to flex some comedic muscle in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's directorial debut "The End Of The World," it looks like "Your Voice In My Head" is going to need a new director.

The success of director Gareth Evans action-heavy thriller “The Raid: Redemption” has been kind to both the filmmaker and his aspirations of completing a proposed trilogy of films. And though Evans will be “Breaking The Bank” with Universal and kicking up dust all over again with “The Raid” sequel “Berandal,” he probably didn’t expect to see a claymation recreation of his film featuring cats.

Long a go-to place to reach teen-aged viewers, The CW (formerly known as The WB for you old timers) has made an impressive pick-up of five new drama pilots to turn to series for its forthcoming slate of shows. While the network that’s become commonly associated with “Gossip Girl” and the revamped “90210” regularly adds a few new teen-friendly scripted series every year, the addition of these five new shows is a new record for the network.

So we're a couple of months out from "The Dark Knight Rises" with the final trailer dropping recently, and it's unlikely there will be many more secrets or plot details spilled until then. So we'll have to wait patiently until we finally see the movie to get the full scope of what Christopher Nolan has prepared as his grand sendoff for the franchise.

For all the high falutin', critically acclaimed shows on HBO, the network isn't above shoveling out lesser fare, and "True Blood" continues to be the odd man out in their lineup. For this writer, it's a pure guilty, trashy pleasure, but even that wasn't enough to make sitting through season 4 worth it. Dreadfully awful on nearly every level, the big mistake was turning Alexander Skarsgard's Eric into simpering, emotional mess for the majority of the season and everything else followed from there, with none of the cast able to fill out the humorous, wicked void his character left behind.

"This is parkour. Internet sensation of 2004," Jim Halpert said in a great cold open from "The Office"....two seasons ago. But it seems Hollywood never knows an idea it can't try and revive and so the very brief street fighting/martial arts/whatever thing that was interesting for about two seconds nearly a decade ago, is now gonna have a new face to try and make it popular again.
