Universal Balking At R-Rating & $150 Million Price Tag; Tom Cruise Not Confirmed For RoleIt's been a long, hard road for Guillermo Del Toro for the past few years. He held on as long as he could with "The Hobbit" before the constant delays eventually forced his hand to get out and moving on to something else. That salvation appeared to be in the form of "At The Mountains Of Madness," the director's longtime passion project, an adaptation of the novel by H.P. Lovecraft. It seemed to be moving forward as his next gig with James Cameron producing, and Universal reacting very positively to pre-production visuals presented to suits, and moreover, the ambitious project was set to come in at the approved $150 million budget. But it appears the studio isn't quite ready to pull the trigger on an R-rated horror big budget horror film.

Sturgess' reps emailed us to say the information is wrong and he is not in the picture. We hope for BC's sake that Malin Ackerman is in the picture too as they have reported.

It's hard to keep anything a surprise these days, especially when it comes to movies with spies and leaks coming from everywhere up the Hollywood food chain. "The Muppets" and "Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows" recently had their cameos given away (though the leak of the latter was less upfront than the rampant casting bits that went out for the former) and it turns out one more was also spoiled.

Also Talks About His Pre-Facebook Social Networking SiteEven though he's easily one of the most divisive figures in Hollywood -- he's currently facing lawsuits from Michael Moore and producers from an aborted animated film "Escape From Planet Earth" -- it's hard to deny that Harvey Weinstein is also one of the most influential and successful moguls around town. But everyone makes mistakes and in a piece he recently penned for Newsweek, Weinstein reveals a couple of his biggest doozies.

'Silence' Will Shoot Next, Followed By 'The Wolf Of Wall Street'It seems there is a small flurry of activity regarding a few brewing Martin Scorsese projects recently. This morning we reported that Robert De Niro revealed that "The Irishman" was still very much on the docket, though not a certainty just yet, and recently, the director's publicist told us that he was fully committed to shooting his long-gestating passion project "Silence" next (more on this in a second). But yet another project is now gained a little more traction.

While Canadian director Guy Maddin will never direct a comic book movie (although that would be amazing), and pretty much remain a favorite of select die hard arthouse fans, the helmer's works are always inventive, unique and singular works, owing much to cinema of yore but carving out their own distinct identity. And that certainly seems to be the case for his next effort "Keyhole."
