For all the films that he's made in the last 33 years, from the great to the dreadful, everything that Roman Polanski's done has been overshadowed by his 1978 sexual assault of a thirteen-year-old girl. The director was arrested and charged with six counts, including rape, but in a bargain with the courts, plead guilty only to "Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a minor," and was sentenced to 90 days in prison. On his release, however, it was suggested by the judge that Polanski would face more prison time, and the helmer fled to France, where he's lived in exile ever since.

Unless you've been a regular at a few film festivals or happen to be from the native country, it's pretty hard to stay on top of all the foreign film Oscar contenders before they get whittled down to the eventual five. But two more movies looking for Oscar gold have just picked up U.S. distribution, giving you a shot to check them out for yourselves.

Get ready, because the Oscar campaign and marketing push for Steven Spielberg's "War Horse" is about to begin. While we got a teaser trailer for the film this summer, "War Horse" is one of the small handful of awards season pics that has yet to be screened for anybody at all. Spielberg doesn't need the reassurance of the fall festival circuit or any early thumbs up from critics because his track record stands on its own. But will audiences want to deal with a WWI movie during the holiday season? We're betting that since it's coming from Spielberg, they won't mind one bit.

Midnight Madness at TIFF this year certainly got Hollywood buzzing. Among the titles earning chatter among suits and audiences alike were "Kill List," "The Day," "You're Next," of course "The Raid," which is getting a Hollywood do-over, and French thriller "Sleepless Night" which yes, is also being remade (courtesy of Warner Bros). Hopefully someone will actually distribute the latter film on this side as, judging by the French trailer for the film uncovered by Twitch, it looks like a pretty exciting little genre flick.

First, let's get one thing out of the way: Lee Unkrich kind of looks like Ed Helms doesn't he? Okay, we just had to put that out there, but the real news is that the "Toy Story 3" director has announced on Twitter that he's starting work on a new movie and to stay updated you'll have to keep glued to his Tumblr page where he'll be tracking its progress. "Today is day one on my next project. Every day I'll post a new photo chronicling the journey," he tweeted. So what is it? Who knows.

Oh yeah, remember that "Wanted" sequel you uh, wanted? It's still happening. Talk about a follow-up to the hit didn't take all that long to get going with notorious shit talker Mark Millar claiming at Comic-Con in 2009 that production was "set to begin shooting in 8 weeks time with James McAvoy reprising his role." Obviously, that never happened. Through much of last year, rumors continued to circulate with Kristen Stewart being mooted to take over the franchise especially since Angelina Jolie's character takes a bullet to the head at the end of the original. Director Timur Bekmambetov chimed in at the end of last summer and confirmed that development was happening, but that the movie was a way off saying, "We are discussing 'Wanted 2' every month. We are working on it now, but I think it will be after Lincoln because James is working on the 'X-Men: First Class'… It’s why I decided to develop Lincoln without a studio, to keep control. It’s a big movie but independent too." But the wheels on the project have not taken a major turn.

Well, of course he is. Still attached to the forever gestating "Tupac" biopic, Antoine Fuqua, who shows no sign of stopping signing onto things, will team with Showtime and direct a feature length documentary about notorious hip hop mogul Suge Knight.

Review: Meta 'Art History' Is NOT Recommended For Joe Swanberg Newbies

The very first shot of “Art History” features a close-up of a woman’s hand placing a condom on an erection. If you needed any further clues that prolific indie filmmaker Joe Swanberg has no intention of going mainstream any time soon, the director has a cock for you to look at. While his “mumble core” allies are moving on to more broad or genre interests (Mark Duplass and Greta Gerwig might as well star in a CBS sitcom at this point), Swanberg soldiers on, approaching the academic depths usually plumbed by late-career artists freed by their lower budgets.

So, here we go again. The "saga" of "Paranormal Activity" continues next month with the third installment in the found footage franchise that is pretty much "America's Funniest Home Videos" with the volume jacked and invisible hands moving shit around.

The combination of words "Dwayne Johnson thriller" and "Susan Sarandon" isn't exactly something we would have expected, but the actress has never been one that is easily pinned down. She's a player with The Lonely Island crew, will appear in "I Hate You Dad" with Adam Sandler next summer, and is currently filming "Cloud Atlas" with The Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer. So, starring in "Snitch"? Piece of cake.
