Writer Damon Lindelof Explains Why Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' Isn't & Is An 'Alien' PrequelIn case you've been living under a rock, you're aware that director Ridley Scott is returning to the world of sci-fi after a nearly 30-year absence. Yes, it's been that long since "Blade Runner" in 1982 ("Legend" is fantasy, leave it at that). He making "Prometheus," a project that started out as a "Alien" prequel written by Jon Spaihts and then morphed into something new when "Lost" writer Damon Lindelof pitched a new direction which Scott loved. 20th Century Fox and Scott, pivoted and "Prometheus" was born -- though considering how fast they changed everything, found a cast, a green light and a release date, one has to wonder if the changes weren't that radical.

Mark Ruffalo & Jim Carrey Rumored As Possible LeadsWriter/Producer/Director Judd Apatow has a lot on his plate at any given moment and we'll forgive you if you forgot that way back in the summer of 2009 he revealed that among the many projects he was juggling, was a collaboration with a director who was making major waves with his indie musical at the time. "...we have a movie with John Carney, the guy who made 'Once' writing and directing, so hopefully, as soon as I'm done and have a little break, I can help people with their scripts and help to kick things around."

With flying airships, Alice from "Resident Evil" and Navy SEALS (or their 17th century equivalent) appearing in this newest trailer for "The Three Musketeers," we find it pretty amazing that the filmmakers are still holding to the idea that this is actually based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas.

There is probably no comic leading man in Hollywood right now hotter than Steve Carell. It seems each week there is another project announced with the actor/comedian attached and this week is no different.

Theatrical Release Still Planned For OctoberWatching Kevin Smith backpedal and rationalize is both amusing and exhausting and we have better things to do with our day, so here's the short version. Back in January, Smith made a big dog and pony show about how he was going to auction the rights to his indie horror film "Red State" right after the screening in Sundance, before surprising (and angering) everyone by selling the movie to himself for $20 in a big grand statement of rebelliousness. “We’re starting over,” Smith told the audience after his announcement. “It’s not just about making the movie, it’s about releasing the movie. True independence is not about handing your work over to some jackass.” Unless those jackasses happened to be named Lionsgate.

Much of moviemaking is about having good instincts combined with a little bit of luck, and for actor Peter Facinelli, it looks like he's got both in spades.

So how many Frankenstein movies are in development in Hollywood? Well Guillermo del Toro has a take; “Limitless” helmer Neil Burger has a remake of “Bride of Frankenstein” at Universal; “Tomorrow, When the War Began” director Stuart Beattie is attached to the comic book adaptation “I, Frankenstein”; Summit has “This Dark Endeavor,” a collaboration between “Mean Creek” writer Jacob Estes and “Let Me In” director Matt Reeves; and Fox just hired Max Landis for another version of the movie monster. But it looks like an indie production will beat all the major players to the big screen and it will star an actor we haven't seen in a long, long time.

Harrison Ford Says What We're All Thinking, Calls LaBeouf A "Fucking Idiot"It appears that Shia LaBeouf has a mouth that can't be stopped. Just a few weeks after the actor dumped on his former co-star Megan Fox, claiming her unforgivable "Spice Girl strength" and her inability to handle Michael Bay's meticulous directions on where to point her ass got her fired from this weekend's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." Now, a new Details magazine feature on the actor finds him using the opportunity to throw Fox under the bus yet again, albeit this time in a wholly different way.
