Let's fave it, "The Office" hasn't been the same since Steve Carell left the show and frankly, it was already on the decline during his last season. James Spader was kind of wasted as the new David Wallace (of sorts) and Ed Helms' position as the new office manager was constantly undermined by tepid writing and a recycling of plotlines and running themes from previous seasons. So perhaps it's no surprise NBC may want to start over. With contracts up at the end of the season for Helms, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and B.J. Novak and not yet renewed, executive producer Greg Daniels is pitching a reboot of the show that would keep some key cast members, but essentially start fresh. Hmm. Remember how well that worked out for ABC and "Scrubs"?

While there were rumors back in January that we would see this as early as fall 2013, Paramount has gone ahead and dated Darren Aronofsky's "Noah" for a far-off March 28, 2014 release. And this will give the helmer plenty of time to finesse the vision of the movie that he has been brewing for years.

They say there is no such thing as bad press, and like it or not, the new allegations of rage-and-hate-fueled anti-Semitism being leveled at the actor/director guarantees his straight-to-VOD offering will be getting a lot more attention than it might have otherwise.

If you think about it, has there even really been a solid film based on a video game? While adaptations like “Silent Hill” and the “Resident Evil” series have their adamant defenders, and with the Angelina Jolie-starring “Tomb Raider” films faring pretty well at the box office in their day, there’s also a glut of terrible titles like “Doom,” “Street Fighter,” and most of Uwe Boll’s filmography. Regardless, the studios aren’t letting up, as the recent “Prince of Persia” and announcement of “Crank” director Brian Taylor’s “Twisted Metal” have proven. Well, add one more to that list of future adaptations.
