While there are some feminists who will argue that pornography can be empowering, Gloria Steinem isn't one of them. The pioneering women's rights activist was an important footnote in the life and saga of "Deep Throat" actress Linda Lovelace, and in the upcoming biopic, she'll make a brief appearance with a big star filling her shoes.

For a while now, folks have been anticipating "Upside Down" based on its stars -- Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst -- and its high-minded premise: a futuristic story following Adam (Jim Sturgess) a seemingly ordinary guy who is holding on to the memory of Eve (Dunst), a girl he met once upon a time from another world, an inverted affluent place with its own gravity. Well, after a long wait (production started nearly two years ago) the first trailer has arrived and it's...uneven to say the least.

Now's the time when we turn the tables to show a little appreciation for our readers and commenters. Yes, we do what we do because we love writing about film, but getting feedback from our readers makes it all the more fun. And sometimes terrifying. It's not a one-way street, you see; we learn as much from you lot as you do from us, and in among the many creative ways you find to call us shitheads, there's plenty of insight, wit, and, as you'll see below, batshit crazy conspiracy theories. Below; ten things we learned from our comments across 2011. 1. There's No Such Thing As Over-Sharing When It Comes To The "Fast & Furious" Franchise. From "Kristina" on this post about Justin Lin's possible attachment to "Terminator 5." "Woooo! Freakin’ fantastic, can’t wait for Fast and Furious 6! Fast Five was absolutely breathtaking! Oh, God, the only thing that’s going through my head to describe that movie, it’s like sex with an orgasm at the end of it! Whereas the first four movies were like you have sex but you never get the orgasm. A lot of stopping and starting but… oh, I wish I hadn’t said that."

Martin Scorsese Says He's Considering Making 'Silence' & Frank Sinatra Biopic In 3D

Despite James Cameron's best intentions, for the most part, the 3D format has primarly been utilized as a cash grab by studios looking to pad out the bottom line in an era when box office receipts appear to be on the decline. However, 2011 marked a bit of a change. At the arthouse, Werner Herzog and Wim Wenders embraced 3D for their unique documentaries "Cave Of Forgotten Dreams" and "Pina" while Martin Scorsese brought true artistry to the format with "Hugo." One of the director's most visually dazzling efforts of his career, "Hugo" found Scorsese delivering a truly immersive 3D world, one that engaged the viewer without the need to make sure stuff is constantly flying at their face. And he may not yet be done working in three dimensions.

Storyboards From 'The Tree Of Life' Reveal Abandoned Early Life Sequence With Adam, Eve, Cain & Abel, Plus Photos From Missing Scenes In The Film

It was quite a 2011 for Terrence Malick. Not only did the director return with his long awaited, Palme d'Or winning "The Tree Of Life," he's got four films in various stages of development including the IMAX documentary "Voyage Of Time," the untitled Ben Affleck/Rachel McAdams romance and two pictures set to shoot this year, "Lawless" and "Knight Of Cups." And yet, with all that going on, people are still talking about "The Tree Of Life" (which has placed on many year end, Best Of lists) and it's not hard to see why. The ambitious film's extended creation and early life sequence is still one of the most discussed of last year, and as you might expect, there was even more that was eventually abandoned by the director in the decades long development of the project.

It was a year ago that we last heard about Don Cheadle’s proposed Miles Davis biopic, but despite a rival Davis biopic, it looks as if the wheels are still in motion for the ambitious actor who still seems ready to tackle the life story of the jazz legend.

Yes, it was a down year at the box office in 2011, but sometimes it’s all about scheduling. While the family’s all together for Christmas, they might not exactly spend a holiday at the multiplex, particularly with many theaters closing early. The weekend after, when everyone’s glad to see their friends again, however, is just enough motivation to plunk down that $10-$12-$20 on an overpriced box office ticket and a mammoth, bladder-clogging, sugary fountain drink that can’t be good for you.
