Adam McKay
Welcome to the rumor mill at its most...rumor-y. The past 24 hours have been a prime example of everyone trying to get to the story first before there's one actually there. Yesterday, we learned that Marvel had their eyes on Adam McKay, Rawson Thurber and Ruben Fleischer to replace Edgar Wright on "Ant-Man," with plans to meet with those directors, presumably with other unnamed filmmakers in the mix. Then, before the day was out, it was reported that McKay had jumped the queue, was in talks to land the gig. Well, the weekend is here and the director's chair for "Ant-Man" is still vacant.

Adam Mckay
Is this week’s “Ant-Man”/Marvel drama finally drawing to a close? It’s been such a whirlwind of emojis I don’t even know what to think anymore. Yet who to believe? Earlier today, three men emerged as the finalists to fill the director’s chair on “Ant-Man” recently vacated by filmmaker Edgar Wright after eight years of development and what sounds like a last minute losing of nerve from Marvel in favor of something more safe and familiar.

With most horror films these days finding creepy and scary happenings in the most innocent and regular of settings—usually at home—Eli Roth wants to take audiences on a trip with his next effort, "The Green Inferno." In fact, he wants to drop horror fans right into the middle of the jungle and watch what happens when a group of young people get in way over their head.

Brilliance Will Smith
Will Smith has bowed out of the Legendary Pictures' David Koepp-penned adaptation of Marcus Sakey's novel "Brilliance." Set to be helmed by Julius Onah, the film centers on a group of people with remarkable powers (mutants? miracles?) and an endowed federal agent who must stop a rogue "brilliant" from starting a civil war.

We Are The Best!
Sometimes you don’t realize what you’ve been missing until it comes along, and until Lukas Moodysson’s “We Are The Best!” (exclamation mark totally earned!) we didn’t realize we’d been missing a female-fronted punk music and puberty story set in early ‘80s Stockholm. The film is a breath of fresh air—there is a lovely awkwardness to the coming of age tale that makes it feel almost like an enthusiastic early effort from a talented neophyte as opposed to the eighth feature from an established, albeit arthouse, director. But Moodysson, never the most structured or formalist of directors, doesn’t overthink the simplicity of the premise and seems to have been energized by the subject matter and by the exuberant young cast.

Josh Brolin, Thanos In 'Guardians Of The Galaxy
The crime thriller “Sicario” is sounding better and better every day. It’s already being directed by Denis Villeneuve, the filmmaker behind “Prisoners” and “Enemy,” and it stars Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro. If that's not enough, celebrated director of photography Roger Deakins, who shot “Prisoners” (so underrated), has confirmed he’ll be the DP on this picture as well.

Sausage Party, Rogen, Rudd, McBride
For all the “brave” or “risky” movie projects Annapurna Pictures backs, this one might be their biggest dare so far. When was the last time there was an R-rated animated film in wide-release theaters for adults? Aside from the Ralph Bakshi films from the 1970s, the “Heavy Metal" movie in the 1980s and after 1999's "South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut," the pickins are pretty slim (and we're talking theatrical, not DVD releases). Animated films are mostly the domain of kids movies, but Annapurna does have quite the project in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s “Sausage Party.”

Transformers: Age of Extinction
Mark Wahlberg really believes in "Transformers: Age Of Extinction." He's already declared that it will be the "biggest movie of 2014," and he's not stopping there. Chatting with IGN, Wahlberg is promising that the good stuff isn't being given away in the trailers, and that when you plunk down your hard-earned cash, you'll get what you paid for.
