Such is the times we live in that only four days after "The Dark Knight Rises" opened and broke box office records, we're already wondering about where the franchise goes next. And it's not entirely an absurd notion. This summer, Sony is having a solid success with "The Amazing Spider-Man" (over $600 million worldwide and counting), only five years after Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 3." And while there is no timeline on when the cowl and cape will be back in action with a new actor and director, Christopher Nolan does have some words of advice for the next director - and it's not to listen to the fans.

So this morning, Variety spilled the beans on the first wave of announcements for the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, and... boy, it looks like a great year. So much so that we wonder how much is left over for other fall festivals like Venice or Telluride. A few of the most anticipated films won't be world premieres, suggesting that they'll be popping up elsewhere shortly before, but we count 40 films announced so far as world premieres, among them films that are sure to make major waves.

It's hard to believe, but it's been two years since Edgar Wright rocked Comic-Con with "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World," and while we've patiently awaited his next effort, it's not long he's been sitting around twiddling his thumbs. Not only did Wright embark on a lengthy, worldwide press tour for 'Scott Pilgrim,' he worked on a script for "Ant-Man" with Joe Cornish and shot a test reel for it earlier this year; he co-wrote the script for "The World's End" which shoots this fall; and he signed on to direct "The Night Stalker" for Disney with Johnny Depp attached to star. And now, another project is now on his plate.

Last summer they covered the (always eager to get) naked Paz De La Huerta in blood for for the first one sheet for the movie, and now another teaser has been sent around to various horror sites with a nipple.

One wonders where the career of Sam Worthington would be without the massive "Avatar" franchise hanging both behind him, and ahead of him. Certainly as the central character in James Cameron's film (and upcoming sequels, whenever they happen), it has allowed a lot of doors to remain open, even if his solo ventures in films like "Man On A Ledge" or "Texas Killing Fields" didn't exactly pan out. And even as the lead in the 'Titans' sequel, the selling point is less his name, than the promise of old timey dudes fighting. But we can't argue his desire to keep mixing things up ("Last Night" is a bit underrated) and his latest will at least afford him the opportunity to talk "The Terminator" with the man who started it all.
