So, what's the difference between a remake and an homage? In this case, we're still not quite sure, but we'll have to see how closely the redo of Adrian Lyne's 1990 cult fave "Jacob's Ladder" sticks to the original. After all, it is using the same title ...

From a zany, cameo-filled concert movie directed by Roman Coppola, a straight-up video directed by Anton Corbijn, and a full album stream set against clips from Marcel Camus' "Black Orpheus," to a total charm fest of a live performance at the YouTube Music Awards featuring a dancing Greta Gerwig, Montreal faves Arcade Fire are setting a bar which other bands have to clear. And today, they raised that bar just another inch.

Call us crazy, but it seems like Wes Anderson has been getting a fair amount of special attention lately. In the past two months, there’s been a new book released chronicling his career in movies, there’s this short film he made with Jason Schwartzmann, his animated film “Fantastic Mr. Fox” is getting a Criterion Collection release, SNL recently did a parody of his films, and of course, his next film “The Grand Budapest Hotel” is just on the horizon (trailer here). If you are a fan of Wes Anderson, what more could you possibly want? Maybe a Wes Anderson tribute CD? Would you want that as well? No? Well, you’re gonna get it anyway…

If you were not particularly thrilled by the idea of a potential sequel to “It’s a Wonderful Life,” then you should not have to worry much longer. As it turns out, Paramount Pictures actually has some standards. A spokeswoman from the studio released a statement yesterday, remarking that a sequel to “It’s a Wonderful Life” would not take place without a fight. The possible sequel, entitled “It’s a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story,” was officially announced earlier this week with Bob Farnsworth, of Hummingbird Productions co-producing alongside Allen J. Schwalb, who was also expected to finance the film. Farnsworth penned the script with Martha Bolton.

The Wolf Of Wall Street
Although we were nearly lost out on a new Martin Scorsese film this year, the crisis was averted and we were gifted with a Christmas day release for “The Wolf Of Wall Street.” With the release mere weeks away, the Paramount marketing blitz is roaring up and a less-than-savory character is looking to get a boost.

Is Harvey Weinstein finally getting the message? Over the past few months, mostly internet based fury has centered around Bong Joon-ho's apocalyptic thriller "Snowpiercer," and Harvey Weinstein's wishes to take his cinematic switchblade to it. The director himself was said to be privately "furious" about having to cut his film, while Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton and screenwriter Kelly Masterson have all expressed their varying degrees of dismay at the movie being potentially chopped up. But it seems this whole saga may have a happy ending.

Tom Hardy Mad Max Fury Road
We can't remember the last time a blockbuster movie took such a stretch between shooting and being released, but it seems Warner Bros. are taking their time with "Mad Max: Fury Road." That said, it seems that whatever is brewing, they are confident enough to release it into one of the most competitive seasons in recent memory.

Christopher McQuarrie Colin Firth Three To Kill
It looks like Hollywood has found a hot new author to adapt. Sort of. You might not know the name of late French author Jean-Patrick Manchette, but his work is living up on the big screen. Sean Penn is already starring in an adaptation of the author's "La Position du tireur couché" (aka "Prone Gunman" aka "The Gunman"), and now another big star is ready to put on his action pants with Manchette's work.
