10 Essential Cinematic Antiheroes“The Darkest Hour,” which sees the return of “Into the Wild” star Emile Hirsch, follows a group of five young people who fend off aliens feeding off our power supply in an effort to take over our world throughout the city of Moscow. A batch of new images have arrived for the film, which will be invading theaters on Christmas Day.
To be totally honest about Summit’s release, which also features Olivia Thirlby, "The Killing" star Joel Kinnaman and “The Social Network” actor Max Minghella, it feels like it’s been forgotten by most media outlets and maybe the studio itself. The initial trailer seemed intriguing, featuring invisible alien life forms consisting solely of electricity, but that was pretty much it. Other than a clip and a dub step-filled international trailer, the cast hasn’t been exactly making the press rounds, and this could mean Summit has a stinker on their hands that they’re just waiting to dump amidst a flurry of new (and probably better) releases.
Howeever, we really like Hirsch, Thirlby and Kinnaman, so hopefully there’s more alien fun to be had here than what appears on the surface.
Find out for yourself when the Chris Gorak-directed film lands on Christmas Day in 3D. [Bloody Disgusting]
