Way back in 2010, ShoWest named Alex Pettyfer as one of their Stars Of Tomorrow, a dubious honor also bestowed at the time to Vanessa Hudgens, with the two of them pairing in the soon to be released box office bomb "Beastly." Time marched on. Now in 2012, Hudgens is working with Harmony Korine ("Spring Breakers") and Pettyfer with Steven Soderbergh ("Magic Mike"), movies in which they will both feature in little to no clothing. All this to say is that tomorrow never knows, but Pettyfer's rise continues as the actor joins a pretty high profile project.

While the summer season in 2012 features a lot of men dressing up in tights, the dudes in Steven Soderbergh's "Magic Mike" flip the script by taking off their clothes instead. But they're not going out to fight crime. Instead, they're melting hearts and making some fast money at the same time. And if you want to know how wild this movie might get, two red band TV spots are here to give you a taste.

Can a movie about male stripping become the sleeper hit of the summer? Warner Bros. is certainly hoping so, and with Channing Tatum already 2/2 with "The Vow" and "21 Jump Street," the odds are looking very good that "Magic Mike" -- which also boasts Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello among the hunktacular cast -- could cap off a helluva 2012 for the actor.

Alex Pettyfer, star of failed franchise starter “I Am Number Four,” and Steven Soderbergh's upcoming "Magic Mike" has found a new starring role in the first English-language film from “Heartbreaker” helmer Pascal Chaumeil. “Diamond Dogs” is based on an Alan Watt novel that is described as a crime thriller. Pettyfer will play the son of a Nevada sheriff who makes a life-changing mistake, and his father is forced to cover it up. Casting is currently underway for the father and no start date has been set.

Model Leebo Freeman Also In The RunningWhile we're yet to see whether youthful, dickish star Alex Pettyfer's move into more serious territory with Steven Soderbergh's "Magic Mike" and the actioner "Overdrive" is a good thing or not, there's certainly one group who are delighted with the actor's career shift: other high-cheekboned young actors! Only a few months ago, the hotly tipped young star of "I Am Number Four" was being courted for every prospective young adult franchise in town, with "The Hunger Games," "The Seventh Son" and "The Mortal Instruments" all said to be courting the 21-year-old actor.

For a brief time after the release of surprise hit, "Taken," it seemed as though the world was Pierre Morel's oyster. The one-time DoP had cult success with "District 13," and his follow-up, the Liam Neeson starrer, was an enormous worldwide hit, landing the French director at the top of action/sci-fi wishlists, and giving him the plum job of replacing Peter Berg on the adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal sci-fi novel "Dune." But things haven't been so smooth since: "Dune" was canceled by Paramount, he didn't land the job of directing Universal's tentpole "Ouija," and his third directorial effort "From Paris With Love" disappointed commercially.

Um, wow. The idea that Steven Soderbergh was sneaking one more film in before his long-promised retirement, other than the previously announced "Liberace" and "The Man From U.N.C.L.E," was a surprise. The idea that the bonus picture would be a drama about male strippers, starring part-man, part-tree trunk Channing Tatum, was an even bigger surprise. But further casting's been announced for the film, and it's a real eyebrow-raiser: the director has landed the young star of "I Am Number Four," Alex Pettyfer, to play opposite Tatum. Not only that, but it emerges that Pettyfer will essentially be playing a younger version of the real-life Channing Tatum.

Alex Pettyfer Out Of Project Formerly Known As 'The Last Apprentice'Her co-star Annette Bening may have picked up the lion's share of the awards nominations, after the decision was made to push both actresses for lead, rather than supporting, but Julianne Moore really was excellent in "The Kids Are All Right," one of the very best performances in a career that isn't exactly starving for great turns. Not that Moore's resting on her laurels; she's averaged three films a year for the last decade, and she's got the Steve Carell/Ryan Gosling comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love" on the way later this year, along with the Robert De Niro drama "Another Bullshit Night in Suck City," and she recently signed to play Sarah Palin in HBO's "Game Change."

It was only a matter of time after director D.J. Caruso closed the deal to direct the long-gesting comic adaptation "Preacher" last month that casting rumors would begin to surface, but who would've guessed they would be coming from the director himself.

The hottest project around town for young actresses appears to be "The Hunger Games." The franchise ready film has already seen a number of names circling the lead role of Katniss Everdeen including Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Jennifer Lawrence, Chloe Moretz, Lyndsy Fonseca, Emma Roberts, Saoirse Ronan, Kaya Scodelario, Emily Browning and Shailene Woodley; and that's just the ones we know of as thirty actresses have met or read for the part. However, there is also a male lead part, Peeta Mellark, the love interest of sorts for Katniss and fellow District 12 resident. And naturally, a rising young name has been linked.
