A Million Ways To Die in The West
Even if you’re not a fan of Seth MacFarlane, you have to acknowledge that the comedic multi-hyphenate has built an empire with his quick-fire, profanity-laced delivery and encyclopedic understanding of pop culture. You’ve got to give him something for the fearlessness, and possibly tonal cluelessness, with which he tackles material. The problem of course is that, armed with that gusto, MacFarlane often belly flops when he’s outside of his comfort zone.

A Million Ways To Die In The West
It really does feel like Seth MacFarlane is living the dream—capitalizing on the success of "Ted" by writing, producing, directing and starring in "A Million Ways to Die in the West." Westerns are notoriously tricky box office fare but if the new promotional material, here in the form of six clips and eleven images, is anything to judge by, fans of "Ted" can rest easy. The irreverence du jour and the bread and butter of MacFarlane's animated empire is on buoyant display, but will the period trappings mesh with the leading man's contemporary riffing?

Amanda Seyfried In Time
Last summer it seemed Gary Oldman would finally end the long wait for his sophomore directorial outing in a grand fashion with his “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” co-star Benedict Cumberbatch and Ralph Fiennes all lined up for roles in the Eadweard Muybridge biopic “Flying Horse.” Despite the talent lined up, however, the film appears to be at an impasse.

A Million Ways to Die in the West'
While Seth MacFarlane could've taken the easy road and simply cranked out a sequel following his surprise smash hit "Ted" (though, yes, "Ted 2" is slated for a 2015 release) he chose to raise his game for his sophomore feature film. Taking a lead role, and tackling a genre that's tricky to pull off (Western Comedy), the result is "A Million Ways To Die In The West" and the first trailer is here.

A Million Ways To Die In The West
Dusting himself off after his divisive hosting job of the Oscars last year, Seth MacFarlane has been hard at work on his next feature film, the western comedy "A Million Ways To Die In The West." And if anyone can make the not-always-reliable genre work, it's him. Because, really, who would've thought a movie about a foul-mouthed, teddy bear would earn more than $540 million worldwide? Punk rock movies are usually a very mixed bag (see this year's "CBGB") but with colorful characters and big emotions, filmmakers are going to keep flocking to the subject matter. And thus, Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini ("American Splendor," "Cinema Verite") are going to turn it up with "Ten Thousand Saints."
