Damn it. Just when we thought we were going to be able to ignore Zach Braff's controversially crowd-sourced sophomore feature, he goes and casts Anna Kendrick. According to The Wrap, the "Pitch Perfect" star, so often the best thing in whatever she's in, has joined the cast of Braff's currently-prepping "Wish I Was Here." The actress will play the love interest of Braff's character's brother (Josh Gad), a young cosplayer named Janine. Manic Pixie Dream Girl alert! Mandy Patinkin is also in the cast (Mandy Patinkin Dream Girl alert!), and Kendrick will next be seen in the questionable-looking "Rapturepalooza," which opens on June 7th.

After an underwhelming trailer and flashy set photos, we thought the film adaptation of Max Barry’s novel “Syrup,” might show up at Sundance. It didn't, but along the way, Magnolia Pictures landed the film and, with a theatrical and OnDemand release around they corner, they’ve also dropped a brand new trailer.

Let's say you're a first time director, and you go to the Toronto International Film Festival hoping that maybe your film will get noticed and perhaps land a modest distribution deal. Now imagine that it's a hit, and none other than The Weinstein Company come calling with plans to release your movie through their Dimension Films shingle. Awesome! Or so it would seem to anyone, but this was 2006 and director Jonathan Levine -- who would go on to make "The Wackness," "50/50" and "Warm Bodies" -- found himself in a curious situation with "All The Boys Love Mandy Lane." He had a hot distributor for his movie, but they got cold feet after "Grindhouse" flopped, and sold his picture to Senator Entertainment...who went out of business. But now the movie has come full circle.

Perennially cast as the eye candy or love interest in B-action movies like “Never Back Down” and “Drive Angry,” Amber Heard is set to take her talents to a much higher profile project. Variety is reporting that the “All The Boys Love Mandy Lane” actress is joining the McG-helmed “Three Days to Kill” opposite Kevin Costner.

Young people doing bad things is a familiar trope in indie flicks, featuring in everything from "The Rules Of Attraction" to "Cruel Intentions" to "The Informers" and more. Amber Heard has already been down that path as the star of "The Informers," and once again it looks like she'll be in a film where everyone seems just a little bit crooked.

Machete doesn't do promotion we guess. Either that or Amber Heard is better eye candy. Probably the latter, since the first offiical image from "Machete Kills" has arrived and it looks positively domestic.

Amber Heard and movies based on cult novels don't seem to fit so well together. "The Informers," based on Bret Easton Ellis' book, was largely ignored, while "The Rum Diary" didn't manage to bring much life to Hunter S. Thompson's work. And now comes "Syrup," which brings Max Barry's novel to the big screen, and this trailer suggests that Heard might be going 0-3.

With the Kristen Stewart/Rupert Sanders scandal still brewing on the edges of the tabloids -- and sure to be kicked up again when Robert Pattinson makes his first public on Monday on "The Daily Show" (!?) since news of the affair broke -- it seems the actress is keen to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible for the time being. Not only has she apparently pulled out of the red carpet premiere in London next Thursday for "On The Road," she is going to be staying off an upcoming movie set as well.

Amber Heard is in talks to join the thriller “Paranoia” as the female lead opposite everyone’s second favourite Hemsworth (well, except for Miley Cyrus we guess), Liam. The prolific director of “Killers,” “The Ugly Truth,” “Monster-in-Law” and “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!,” Robert Luketic, is the man behind the camera, and Heard joins a cast which impressively already includes Gary Oldman, Harrison Ford, Lucas Till and "Nip/Tuck" star Julian McMahon. Heard most recently starred opposite Johnny Depp in “The Rum Diary” and may be remembered by many for looking pretty in the likes of “Drive Angry,” “The Ward,” and “The Joneses.” This will finally give her a chance to act rather than be little more than an accessory, as she will play Hemsworth's love interest who happens to be his ticket to spying into a rival firm in the corporate thriller.

Albert Hughes just can't catch a break with casting for his latest effort, "Motor City." After a lengthy search for a male lead that saw names like Chris Evans, Dominic Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal and Jeremy Renner all linked before Gerard Butler jumped on board, the project has now hit another wall, losing its villain and female lead.
