Andrew Garfield We Exist
After dressing up to fight crime in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," Andrew Garfield is ready to change costumes again, but this time for something a bit more serious. The actor stars in Arcade Fire's newest video, "We Exist," and after a tease last week, the full clip is here.

The Beygency
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" opened this weekend (and topped the box office), so Sony made sure that Peter Parker himself got in front of as many late night eyes as possible and landed him a hosting gig on "Saturday Night Live." And because we're old and the show isn't very good, we didn't bother staying up (in fact, it was one of the lowest rated episodes of the season, even with Coldplay as a musical guest). But we live in an age where we can watch the big highlights of the evening from the comfort of our desk on Monday morning with a cup of coffee in our hand. Read More »

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Kevin Feige might be the sorcerer supremre of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but when it comes to the "Amazing Spider-Man 2" (and it's own expanding universe), Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are it. Arad is the guy who, back when he ran Marvel, got the comics company back on its feet and started Marvel Studios as a company that could eventually rival any of its Hollywood contemporaries. (It's also worth noting that without his aggressively innovative management, Disney would have never bought Marvel.) Arad now shepherds the crown jewel property that is, as of yet, out of Disney's hands: Spider-Man. Together with Tolmach, Arad's new goal is to rival Marvel's sprawling cinematic landscape, complete with a whole continuum of spin-offs and sequels. We talked about the possibility of multiple cinematic Spider-Men, if the Mary Jane footage will ever see the light of day, and whether or not they see the Spider-universe infecting the small screen too.

Amazing Spider-Man 2
The reviews are out for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and they are mixed, to say the least (though our Oli Lyttelton really didn't like it), but Sony isn't giving up pushing this hard, and why should they? No matter what the critics say, the sequel is already tracking for a massive $95 million opening weekend, and the studio will do everything it can to make that number bigger.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Jamie Foxx
As far as superhero reboots go, "room for improvement" was probably the best way to sum up 2012's "The Amazing Spider-Man." Certainly financially, the film made a very healthy $750 million worldwide, but that's still less than any of the three Sam Raimi films that preceded it. And creatively, the film had some strong building blocks—an increased emphasis on romance, a hugely appealing central pairing in Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone (plus support from ringers like Sally Field and Martin Sheen), a bright sense of humor, a fresh-ish take on the characters—but a patchy script, disappointing action and lackluster villain meant that there was plenty of opportunity for a sequel to prove itself worth of the title "amazing."

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
If it seems like we're getting deluged by "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" over a month before it opens, you might be forgetting that the film is slated to open overseas a full two weeks before it drops here. That's right, every four years, the World Cup wreaks havoc with movie scheduling as studios don't want their big tentpoles opening during the frame when everyone around the globe will be glued to their TVs watching the action unfold on the pitch.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The eternal question, at least these days, is whether or not critics matter. One only has to look at last week's "Divergent," which opened strong despite a slew of middling reviews, to notice that certain properties are immune to criticism. On the flipside, Paramount is gambling this week with "Noah," being particularly selective about what critics see the movie first, and in some markets, not screening the movie for reviewers at all, perhaps fearing that negative or mixed responses might dampen box office prospects. The critic/studio/filmmaker is one that's always in flux, but Andrew Garfield sees things quite clearly when it comes to his big summer movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is just over a month away from slinging into theatres and Sony has mobilized their marketing team to make it their number one priority. Even with over four weeks away from seeing the movie, well, we've already seen a lot from the sequel just through the smorgasbord of clips, trailers and promos. And determined to leave no stone unturned, no plot point undiscovered, even more has arrived over the past few days.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
While you might still be miffed that "The Amazing Spider-Man" told the origin story you already knew, director Marc Webb admits to Rolling Stone he actually turned down a script for the first movie that ditched it altogether. "It was different. It still had the Lizard in it, but it was a script that jumped ahead in time and relied on knowledge of the comic books that I don't think everyone had," he explained to the magazine. "Tonally, it was a little more tongue-in-cheek and glib, and I didn't feel the emotional connection. I just didn't know how else to develop that bond than with an origin story. I feel like it pays off in this movie, because now Andrew Garfield embodies Peter Parker."
