If you've ever wondered what a contract renegotiation sounds like, well these latest comments from Andrew Garfield should be a guide. Even though Sony has already spun a web of plans all the way through to "The Amazing Spider-Man 4," which has a release date set for May 4, 2018, to hear it from Andrew Garfield, he's not going to go the distance as Peter Parker.

With Warner Bros. bulking up "Batman Vs. Superman" with Wonder Woman, the Marvel-verse continuing to expand like so many waistlines at an all you can eat buffet, it's time for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" to level up in the superhero arms race.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Today, kind of randomly with only the barest of context, The Times Of India—for reasons of international marketing, we can only surmise—dropped three new photos from "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." One is hilarious, one is of a villain and one has Emma Stone in it. Can you guess which one is the funny one?

Happy Labor Day weekend, stream fans! Summer may be drawing to an official close, but there's nothing withering about the content we're highlighting for you this week. With "Passion" out in theaters today, we'd like to give Brian De Palma a high five: over forty years of filmmaking, and the director remains as polarizing as ever, continuing to delight and disappoint audiences with his unique style and scandalous content. Check out one of his earlier films below, followed by an homage to "Closed Circuit" director John Crowley with the inclusion of his feature debut. Also, a pre-theatrical release of a horror-comedy with the most disgustingly awesome villain we've ever heard of, a long-forgotten comedy with Tim Robbins and John Cusack, and a straight-to-DVD release of The Rock and Liam Hemsworth's latest vehicle. Okay, so maybe that last pick is a little withering. But the leaves have to fall sometime, right? And, of course, we have another treasured title from the bastion of goodness that is The Criterion Collection. Enjoy!

Andrew Garfield may be playing Spider-Man/Peter Parker until the end of time, but that doesn’t mean he’ll isn’t willing to go back to the smaller fare he first became known for. THR is reporting that “The Social Network” actor is set to team up with “Man Push Cart” director Ramin Bahrani for his latest film.

So this is going to be the new "thing" for superhero movies now? One isn't enough, so hot on the heels of Joss Whedon's $1 billion-grossing "The Avengers," and whatever Zack Snyder's Batman/Superman team-up movie is going to be called, director Marc Webb, while talking up next summer's 3D web-slinging adventure "Amazing Spider-Man 2," teased that the fourth film (yes, the fourth) in the franchise might be some kind of team-up movie. "It might not just be a Spider-Man movie," Webb told Crave Online. If it's not just a "Spider-Man" movie could we hope that it's also a "Star Trek" movie? Or maybe "Resident Evil?" Just so we can kill two franchise birds with one stone? At the very least it'd make the summer of 2018 go by a little quicker.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Jamie Foxx
For a movie that's not coming out for another year (okay, a bit less than that), "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" sure is blowing its load a bit early, dropping all kinds of images online. Are the filmmakers hoping to encourage audiences by letting them know this time around they are actually going to get a whole new and original story? Is it because Comic-Con is next week and this is just a preview to the smorgasbord of stuff that's coming? Our guess is that it's somewhere between the two, so let's just get to it.

Well, it looks like the series spawned by Marc Webb will accomplish what Sam Raimi failed to do: get to four films. With a trilogy long expected, the expansion to a fourth film is certainly big news -- especially when the second movie hasn't dropped yet -- and perhaps speaks to Sony's confidence in the series, or their desire not to be left behind in the superhero race.

When it was announced last month that Martin Scorsese's long-developing dream project "Silence" was finally getting made, with a shoot next year in the works, we tempered our excitement. We had heard this before, more than once, and for a variety of reasons, the movie never happened. But today comes some great news, as not only is it moving forward, but the film has found it's first actor.

As was documented earlier, there was a lot cut from "The Amazing Spider-Man" as Sony and director Marc Webb wrestled with the film prior to release. Among the many elements that were apparently jettisoned in the "the untold story" (which turned out be the story we already knew) was an element that Peter Parker's dad had secretly been involved in his son's transformation into Spider-Man. And some deleted scenes seem to be point out this was the case.
