It was a busy week at The Playlist, with announcements for "Man Of Steel" and "The Dark Knight Rises," a few big trailer premieres and, our biggest thrill, the announcement of the Cannes '11 lineup. We decided to cull together the ten news stories this week that generated the heaviest debate, so if you missed anything, feel free to click away.

Anna Faris To Star In Stalker-Roommate Comedy, Will Take Less Crazy Lead Role

Lots of buzz is building around Anna Faris these days. She was recently the subject of an extensive -- if somewhat early, and kind of random -- profile in the New Yorker that looked over her career, chatted about the making of the forthcoming "What's Your Number?" and even got her opinion on past films like "Observe and Report" and "My Super Ex-Girlfriend." The actress is the executive producer on "What's Your Number?" and is working hard to get projects suited to her sensibilities instead of waiting for the right script to land on her doorstep.

Infamous 'Observe And Report' Vomit Sex Scene Still Divisive, Anna Faris Uncertain She'd Do It Again

Also Hated 'My Super-Ex Girlfriend' & Was Glad It BombedWhile critics and audiences pretty much agreed that Jody Hill's "Observe and Report" was an unfunny misfire, perhaps the lasting "legacy" of the movie was the very uncomfortable sex scene between Ronnie (Seth Rogen) and Brandi (Anna Faris). If you haven't seen the film, the sequence finds Ronnie, a security guard at a mall taking Brandi, a salesgirl out on a date. After more than a few drinks, shots and even a handful of pills, Brandi and Ronnie return to his place and she is very clearly sick and intoxicated, vomiting before they even get in the door. Cut to the bedroom where Ronnie is having sex with Brandi, pausing when he notices she's passed out -- followed quickly by the punchline, with Brandi saying: "Why are you stopping, motherfucker?" (you can watch the scene here). It's a pretty divisive moment in an already fairly black comedy and at the time, some likened the scene to date rape, with others defending the sequence in the name of comedy or weakly offering that Brandi gave her consent.

Aziz Ansari Making A Cameo In Raunchy R-Rated Anna Faris Comedy 'What's Your Number?'

This year, the studios are hoping women can bring in the raunchy R-rated laughs their male counterparts already can. While Warner Bros. will take another bite of the bankable apple with "The Hangover Part II," their competitors are rolling their dice with female driven laffers with Universal's "Bridesmaids," Sony's "Bad Teacher" and Fox's "What's Your Number" all in the pipeline. Female driven comedies -- that aren't rom-coms -- are already a hard sell and it's no surprise that execs are fine tuning the films up until the last minute. You can bet that the SXSW, "work-in-progess" screening of "Bridesmaids" was as much about gauging early audience reaction as it was about building hype for the film and in the case of the Anna Faris led "What's Your Number," there continues to be refinements as the film works through post-production.

Ah, Suncoast Video. The one-time suburban staple of home video rentals is no more, but it lives on in "Take Me Home Tonight" a 1988-set comedy that seems to giving a big, huge nod to the '80s films of John Hughes.

Anna Faris Also Linked To FilmA flurry of activity surrounds the still-gestating "Ghostbusters 3," and while some of it smells fishy, there still remains the possibility of a kernel of truth. The guys at What's Playing have apparently unearthed some casting news from their source at Sony, who can't confirm the hot rumor that Sony is high on Anna Faris, but will go on record saying former "Saturday Night Live" castmates Will Forte and Bill Hader may be candidates to join this newest incarnation of the franchise.
