After the solo Hannah episode two weeks back and last Sunday's focus on Ray and Adam, once again "Girls" is allowing its focus to flesh out a particular character, with Jessa (Jemima Kirke) getting the spotlight. The episode kicks off with her and Hannah (Lena Dunham) at the Manitou train station, about an hour outside of New York City, where they're awaiting Jessa's father and a weekend out in the country, in an episode that seems to ultimately serve as a goodbye to the character for a while.

Over the summer, it was revealed that Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, the filmmaking pair behind "Half Nelson" and "Sugar," had lined up their next project. "Mississippi Grind" will find them working with Jake Gyllenhaal, and now another actor who has been more than a familiar face over the past little while has joined as well.

Brad Pitt is notoriously hard to net for a film. He'll sign on to a lot of projects and even produce, but getting the man to star in a picture when all is said and done can prove to be difficult. Aussie director Andrew Dominik had a leg-up. He directed Pitt in the underrated "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," a movie that Pitt has said he lost money making, but is one of his personal favorite films. So how did Dominik get Pitt to sign on for his latest film, the American crime drama "Killing Them Softly"? "It was all very simple. I texted Brad, asking if he was interested, and he wrote back 'Yes,' "  Dominik told EW recently. "We basically worked the whole thing out via text message over half an hour."

We've not actually asked him, but we suspect strongly that the favorite film of the last few days of Kevin Jagernauth, our man on the ground at the Toronto International Film Festival, is "The Place Beyond The Pines," director Derek Cianfrance's follow-up to the acclaimed "Blue Valentine," which reunites him with star Ryan Gosling, as well as bringing in Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Ray Liotta, Dane DeHann and more, for an epic, decades-spanning crime saga.

While much of the hype on The Weinstein Company's fall slate has centered around Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained," Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" and David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook," one film still flying well under the radar is Andrew Dominik's "Killing Them Softly" starring Brad Pitt. Though it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this spring, and has a new October release date now set (essentially swapping places with PTA's movie), it's still the only film of the bunch without a trailer. So until then, some images will have to do.

And while it seemed he was set to shoot a sequel to "Wolf Creek" early this year, legal troubles have since delayed the production, with no end in sight. While his turn as the unstable Pope in "Animal Kingdom" turned heads, Ben Mendelsohn's first couple attempts to conquer Hollywood haven't quite worked out. Last fall he featured in"Killer Elite" and the disastrous Nic Cage/Nicole Kidman vehicle "Trespass." But, looking much more promising, he's got "Cogan's Trade" and "The Place Beyond The Pines" hitting theaters (or at least festivals) sometime this year, and he's lining up another project with some serious predigree.
