Making a movie at Google’s headquarters featuring a plot that’s largely centered around Google probably has its share of perks. One of which would be the extra (free?) online advertising from two of top three most popular websites on the internet, including the Google-owned YouTube, of course. Now that “The Internship” will be out everywhere in theaters in just two weeks, an amusing little short film featuring Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, and Ben Schwartz (Jean-Ralphio from “Parks and Recreation”) has popped up on the site for YouTube Comedy Week, and it’s definitely not an advertisement for “The Internship.” Except of course it totally is.

They may still not have the prestige of arch-rivals Pixar, but things have been looking up over at DreamWorks Animation of late. Once the home of poor CGI fare like "Shark Tale" and "Bee Movie," recent years have seen a new emphasis on quality rather (or at least in addition to) big names. 2010's "How To Train Your Dragon" was their best film to date, and last year even sequels "Puss In Boots" and "Kung Fu Panda 2" displayed more artistry than "Cars 2" did, picking up Oscar nominations for their trouble.

The comedy world got a little bit of a kick in the ass with the coming of the web era, thanks to websites like Funny or Die, which have enabled big stars to team up with emerging writing and directing talent, providing an important foothold into the industry for many, and plenty of laughs for the rest of us. Funny Or Die have already made many inroads into other media, thanks to an HBO compilation show, and now rival CollegeHumor Media looks to get in on the act by financing and producing their first feature film.

It's only half a decade since the Judd Apatow stable reinvigorated the comedy world, plucking actors from TV shows like "Freaks & Geeks," "The Daily Show" and the old staple of "Saturday Night Live" and turning them into bona fide superstars, but already the next wave of comic actors are starting to break through. Names like Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Donald Glover, Ellie Kemper, Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer, many of whom, crucially, broke through with short films on the internet, are all starting to make waves on the big screen, and it's only a matter of time before one of them cracks the A-list.
