The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty Ben Stiller
We're just a few years shy of the 70th anniversary of Danny Kaye's "The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty," and while some might deem it sacrilege to even attempt to remake the classic fantasy, some would argue the story is due for a contemporary makeover. And of those people would be Ben Stiller, who directs and stars in this holiday season's big blockbuster, and Fox is beginning to show a little bit more of what they have in store for audiences.

A friendly reader had pointed us to this news a couple weeks back, when Robert Downey Jr. dropped the news to Italian press, but Google translate made it all sound iffy... but lo and behold, "Pinocchio" lives.

Well, the sun has set on another Tribeca Film Festival, but with a packed schedule, we weren't going to have time for everything. That being said, it was a great year for the festival, with more than a handful of surprising films and performances which we broke down in our Best And Brightest Of The 2013 Tribeca Film Festival. But festivals aren't just an opportunity for movies to find an audience, but it's a place for talent to talk, mingle and share anecdotes and while we could find space in our schedule, thank the digital age for preserving these convos.

2014 will mark the tenth anniversary of "Dodgeball," which makes us feel very, very old. And the movie is a curious one, a comedy with a ludicrous concept fronted by Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller that was made for peanuts, and had zero expectations, that somehow became a box office smash and a behemoth on home video as well. And for all of these years, a sequel has been kicked around as an idea without ever getting anywhere. Until today.

In case you missed the news, Ben Stiller is directing and starring in the remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye-vehicle "The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty," the somewhat liberal adaptation of the masterful James Thurber short story. The project will somehow also involve Sean Penn so it's fairly safe to assume that this won't be your ordinary do-over, no surprises that the first image is a little bit of a headscratcher.

We recently had the good fortune to speak with filmmaker Noah Baumbach as he starts the long, winding road of press for the upcoming release of his latest film, the sublime black-and-white character piece and uproarious comedy "Frances Ha," starring Greta Gerwig (who also co-wrote the screenplay with Baumbach). During our interview, which we'll post in full closer to the film's release date, "The Squid and the Whale" director, who shot 'Frances' on the quick and quiet (hardly anyone knew it even existed until it premiered at the Telluride Film Festival last year), dished on some of his upcoming projects and it seems he's hitting a prolific stride.

It looks like you're not going to be able to watch any episode of the new season of "Arrested Development" without crashing into a guest star. With Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Isla Fisher, Terry Crews, Conan O'Brien and John Slattery among those we know for sure are popping by, and side players like Mae Whitman and Carl Weathers also slated to return, the list is now getting (awesomely) longer.

Watch: Ben Stiller's 'Die Hard 12' Sketch That Is More Of A 'Die Hard' Movie Than 'A Good Day To Die Hard'

Of the many, many things wrong with the thoroughly awful "A Good Day To Die Hard," the major issue is that it barely contains any of the trademarks that made the franchise unique in the first place. Oh sure, there's the always quip-ready Bruce Willis, but there's no villain with a crazy scheme or any sign that John McClane is ever in any real danger. 'Good Day' merely has McClane and his son running through Moscow, blowing shit up, and jumping through more plate glass windows than you thought possible while chasing some vague file. Basically, it could be mistaken for any faceless production Luc Besson cranks out these days. So who would've thought that Ben Stiller would have got it right more than a decade ago?

So what happens when you're Ben Stiller and your last movie was the execrable "The Watch"? You have to make amends (and then some it seems). While he's in post on the fantastical "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" which he is both directing and starring in, it looks like the writer/director/actor isn't doing the "indie-movie-for-me" thing after. Nope, he's headed right into another tentpole, as if to ensure that his brand gets built back up.

We Almost Got A Rolling Stones Concert Movie Written By Judd Apatow & Ben Stiller

Of all the relationships that Judd Apatow has forged in his career, one of the most enduring personally and professionally has been with Ben Stiller. He was a writer on "The Ben Stiller Show," and as both their stars began to rise, they found space to work together time and again, with Stiller memorably popping up in everything from "Freaks & Geeks" to "Anchorman," while Apatow produced "The Cable Guy," which starred and was directed by the comic actor. But perhaps their most interesting time together was on something that never came to pass.
