With the pair embarking shortly on a summer tour, they've dropped the trailer for the short film "Run" and we can't make heads or tails of this thing.

It’s always unfortunate to watch a filmmaker slip further away from his better work with age – but even more so when it’s one who exhibited the sort of storytelling craft that could both frustrate and engage his audience all at once. Director Oliver Stone has always been one to challenge his viewers. From his days of illustrating with his pen the brutal confines of a Turkish prison in “Midnight Express” to the conspiracy-minded reels of “JFK,” Stone has honed an ability to tell seemingly documentary-ready material in a more compelling cinematic narrative – treating fiction like reality (and occasionally blurring the line between the two).

Nicolas Winding Refn has never been busier. Busy in post on "Only God Forgives," with a number of projects in the works including "I Walk With The Dead" with Carey Mulligan; producing a prequel to "Maniac Cop"; looking at "The Button Man" to direct and bringing "Barbarella" to the small screen, Refn continues to quickly move forward, but thankfully, someone has slowed him down just enough, to take a long look at where he's been.

There are no superheroes, no toy brands, no gross-out comedy and no spandex in Oliver Stone's summer thriller "Savages." But perhaps that's what makes it such an interesting prospect, and while we'll find out how it all plays in just a couple of weeks, a generous red band clip from the film has dropped online to give us another tease.

After a string of biopics, a documentary, and a decent “Wall Street” sequel, it's clear Oliver Stone is ready to return to his special, sun-soaked universe -- one where the violent atmosphere infuses every frame and its characters' swaggering personalities aren't too far behind. His newest film “Savages” has more than confirmed this with its exaggerated trailer, and now six new clips have arrived before the film opens just around the corner.

While Universal's decision to move Oliver Stone's "Savages" from a fall release date to a prime summer slot on the same weekend that "The Amazing Spider-Man" hits theaters may seem like a strange choice, there's a certain logic to it from a counter-programming perspective. And moreover, it seems to be in the oddball spirit of the director himself, who usually doesn't miss an opportunity to provoke and challenge when given half the chance. And while we'll have to wait and see if the gamble will pay off, with just a couple weeks to go the studio has dropped a generous helping of new images of the film, giving us a chance to see what Stone is pulling together for his latest, pulpier effort.
