Liddell Entertainment & Roadside Attractions Snag U.S. RightsSummer hasn't even started to wind down yet, and blockbusters are already getting looked over in favor of Oscar predictions and upcoming fall festivals. It seems like every other day this year's Oscar race is picking up with the "War Horse" trailer hitting last week and The Weinstein Company already staking out their fall dates. Though it's small news, it looks to be big for the Best Actress category as earlier today it was announced that "Albert Nobbs," starring Glenn Close was picked up for distribution by Liddell Entertainment and Roadside Attractions with a fall awards season release and campaign in the works.

For a film by the brother of "In Bruges" director Martin McDonagh starring Brendon Gleeson, Don Cheadle, Mark Strong and Liam Cunningham, there's surprisingly been pretty much no talk about crime-comedy "The Guard," which debuted to mixed-to-positive reviews at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

Sgt. Gerry Boyle is a man of simple pleasures. The unassuming, burly inspector works the unspectacular beat in his quiet, rainy hamlet of Galway, Ireland, wasting the days away alone with his Chet Baker record collection and his afternoons of illicit sex with the prostitutes of Dublin. His identification with police television shows is one of the very few ways he connects with the outside world of what he does, as his menial tasks seem far away from the pavement-slapping action of his colleagues. He's the rarest of movie cops: the one who seems almost offended at the possibility of interrupting his lifestyle for high speed chases or sexy gunfights.

Liam Cunningham & Robert Patrick Also On BoardYoung Swedish helmer Daniel Espinosa has certainly been a name on everyone's lips of late. His crime pic "Snabba Cash" earned a lot of buzz from its festival run, which has put him in the running for a number of high-profile projects including "X-Men: First Class" and "Wolverine." Instead, however, the helmer will soon direct "Safe House" which is shaping up to be quite the exciting actioner with Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds starring from a much-buzzed script by David Guggenheim.
