There’s just something about Channing Tatum. Clearly, he’s got that magic touch (why else would Paramount be reshooting “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” to add more Chan?), a certain je ne sais quoi that would inspire veteran auteur Stephen Soderbergh to bring his early life story as a Florida stripper to the silver screen, while making the ultimate male stripper movie in the process. It just so happens to be a really good film too, one that’s about more than just shakin’ what the good Lord bestowed on Mr. Tatum and pals.

So, concept is simple: the White House comes under attack and a Secret Service agent (or a former Secret Service agent) needs to come in, knock heads and save the day. And it seems this idea was good enough to spawn two rival movies that are racing to win audiences: "White House Down" and "Olympus Has Fallen." White House Exhausted yet?

Aside from the smash hit "The Vow" (which also happened to star Channing Tatum) there hasn't been much variety for the ladies who don't necessarily want to see to see superheroes, crude comedy or lots of explosions. But the promise of romance, comedy and yes, lots of attractive men taking their clothes off in "Magic Mike" should likely find an audience who haven't really been well served so far this year.

You'd think The Wachowskis would have gotten their epic sci-fi trilogy kicks out of their system with "The Matrix" but evidently not -- the duo are gearing up "Jupiter Ascending," a planned kickstarter to a trilogy that is set in a universe where human beings are not the most evolved forms of intelligent life. With things reportedly due to get underway this fall, and on the back of Mila Kunis joining the flick, Channing Tatum has confirmed with MTV his own involvement in the ambitious project.

Can a movie about male stripping become the sleeper hit of the summer? Warner Bros. is certainly hoping so, and with Channing Tatum already 2/2 with "The Vow" and "21 Jump Street," the odds are looking very good that "Magic Mike" -- which also boasts Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello among the hunktacular cast -- could cap off a helluva 2012 for the actor.

Reshoots: they're the new principal photography, it would seem. Every so often, a story will crop up that some major movie has reassembled its cast and crew for what's usually referred to as "additional photography." And it's easy for that to be blown up into some kind of scaremongering story, when in actual fact, it's hard to find a film that doesn't go back for more after the main bulk of its shoot has wrapped. More often than not it's for "pick-ups" -- filling in some gaps, fixing some scenes that may have had some technical issues. Sometimes it's to add a new ending, or new scenes elsewhere in the picture, which may have occured to the filmmakers once in post-production. Virtually every major movie budgets and schedules for a week or two of additional photography, and almost every successful movie of the last few years -- "Avatar," "The Avengers," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2," "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" -- had some kind of reshoots.

Just like Woody Allen or Terrence Malick, The Wachowskis don't like to share what their movies are about until they're good and ready to, but as these things generally tend to go, somebody somewhere usually gets their hands on some kind of material and shares it with somebody else and before you know it, we're writing a post.

Man, you gotta kind of be feeling for Paramount and their seemingly cursed "G.I. Joe" franchise. The first film by Stephen Sommers was a disappointment, to say the least, taking in a modest $300 million worldwide (not a great figure when the budget not including P&A was $175 million) but worst of all, it failed to capture the imagination of the fanboys in the first place. Nevertheless, a brand is a brand is a brand, and the studio forged ahead with a sequel, upping the ante with stars like Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis, but in what will be regarded as one of the worst decisions to be made in recent memory, they decided to kill off Channing Tatum early on in the movie. But with the late-stage decision to push the flick to 2013 under the cover of converting it to 3D, the studio is hoping to put some Tatum sauce back on their blockbuster steak.
