"Everyone gets old. Not everyone grows up." Amen. And welcome to the new tagline for Jason Reitman's "Young Adult," his follow-up feature to "Up In The Air," and his second collaboration with "Juno" screenwriter Diablo Cody. By all accounts, "Young Adult" and its ugly and unapologetic script and characters are going to be one difficult pill to swallow for audiences. The New York Times calls Charlize Theron's self-involved lead character in the film one of the most unlikable protagonists in recent memory,  our recent review out of Austin called the film, "uflinchingly funny and painful" and when Cody recently described the film she said succintly, "assholes don't change."

While it circumvented the traditional fall film festival route, as you've probably heard by now, Jason Reitman and Paramount have been hosting "pop-up screenings" of the "Up In The Air" director's latest film, "Young Adult." The first screening was held in Toronto, Canada, and the second screening this week took place in Minneapolis; perfect considering the setting of this new film is small-town Minnesota.

For a brief moment, it seemed as if Charlize Theron was going to be struck hard by the Oscar curse. Following "Monster," she hit a bit of rough patch. Yes, she was nominated for "North Country" but the film didn't exactly make waves with audiences. "Æon Flux" was nothing short of a disaster, and "In The Valley Of Elah" and "Battle In Seattle" weren't quite received as well as the filmmakers might have hoped. However, the actress is set to make a big leap back into public view. Later this year she'll make another run at Oscar with a starring role in Jason Reitman's "Young Adult" and 2012 finds her back in tentpole territory with two mega projects: Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" and the fairy tale movie "Snow White And The Huntsman." So forgive us if we think the actress can do much better than a tread through horror remake territory.

It looks like Charlize Theron is on the comeback trail. After a string of films that either underperformed or just weren't worthy of her talents -- "Battle In Seattle," "In the Valley of Elah," "The Burning Plain," "Hancock," "The Road" -- the actress has lined up a formidable slate of projects. Next year she'll be starring in two major tentpoles, Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" and "Snow White and the Huntsman," and before the end of the year we may be hearing Oscar talk for her turn in Jason Reitman's "Young Adult." So when we hear the words "crime thriller" associated with Theron, we can't help but be a bit excited given the momentum she has right now.

Plus First Look Photos Of Daniel Radcliffe In 'The Woman In Black' & 'The Big Year' With Owen Wilson & Jack BlackWhile the adult drama is seemingly endangered thanks to the hegemony of brand-based franchises and tentpoles there are still a few directors managing to convince the studio system to work within these limits. Sure, you can probably count them on one hand, but Jason Reitman, the filmmaker behind "Up In The Air," and "Juno" is one of these directors. It probably helps that these budgets aren't extraneous, but we'll take what we can get. So here's a first look at one of The Playlist's most anticipated films of 2011, "Young Adult" starring Charlie Theron wearing a Hello Kitty T-Shirt, hip shades and carrying a little toy pooch accessory. Being released by Paramount on December 9th in limited release, likely vying for Oscar contention, the film reteams Reitman with "Juno" screenwriter Diablo Cody.

Months out from its already massively-delayed planned start date, George Miller's "Mad Max: Fury Road" still faces the same issues that plagued the production last year with the planned shooting location of Broken Hill in Australia now set to be canned as the typically dry and barren town "remains too green for filming" Miller's post-apocalyptic world and is unlikely to be ready for pre-production in October.

Comic-Con wrapped up over a week ago so we're kind of surprised it's taken this long for this to happen, but some pretty grainy, lo-res but no less intriguing snaps from the "Prometheus" footage shown in San Diego have made it to the web, providing us our first look at Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and Idris Elba in the film.
