If I Stay, Chloe Moretz
This summer, you won't have any shortage of young, hopeful, beautiful teenagers falling in love and then (possibly) dying. Shailene Woodley battles cancer and finds romance in "The Fault In Our Stars," and not to be outdone, Chloe Moretz will swoon before getting in a car crash in "If I Stay." And no, that's not a spoiler, that's the plot.

Helen Mirren is circling “Trumbo,” a biopic about blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo. Bryan Cranston is already attached to star as Trumbo, one of the greatest screenwriters of the 20th century, whose career abruptly ended when he refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) in 1947 during their investigation into Hollywood’s communist ties.

Clouds Of Sils Maria
With the Cannes Film Festival announcing their lineup this week, distributors are going hard to the hoop early to get eyes on their films. David Cronenberg's "Maps To The Stars" just got its first trailer, and now another expected Cannes title is showing off the goods.

While still dabbling in helpful cuts of his director friends’ films, Steven Soderbergh has kept to his word of retiring from theatrical moviemaking. Currently in the midst of completing his Cinemax miniseries “The Knick”, he—as usual—hasn’t kept satisfied with simply one project on his plate; rather, after much talk of bringing his 2012 stripper pic “Magic Mike” to the Broadway stage, he’s instead selected Off Broadway as his choice for a gripping drama featuring one of Hollywood’s talented young actresses.

Laggies
Given that the arrested development subgenre of comedy is chiefly the domain of men and man children, it’s nice to see the field finally tackled from a refreshing female perspective. However, while an admirable vantage point of the trapped in adultlescence genus, “Laggies,” the new film by director Lynn Shelton, is often wildly implausible (even for a comedy), positions its sympathies in questionable places and is a mess of a movie that lands all over the place.

Carrie, Chloe Moretz
Kimberly Peirce’s much-hyped “Carrie,” which we first got a fairly pleasurable preview of during last year’s New York Comic Con, finally opened this weekend in a prime pre-Halloween slot usually reserved for the yearly “Paranormal Activity” iteration and… nobody showed up. The movie, starring Chloe Grace Moretz in the title role, failed to connect with audiences, who rejected it in favor of yet another go around in Alfonso Cuaron’s IMAX 3D version of Space Mountain, and critics (like our own) were mostly unkind. But why this new “Carrie”—which, like the 1976 Brian De Palma original and the 2002 TV movie, is based on Stephen King’s first novel—defaulted so spectacularly is still worth investigating. We decided to look at the five most criminally awful aspects of this remake in an attempt to decode who killed “Carrie.”

Carrie, Chloe Moretz
It's easy to see why director Kimberly Peirce ("Boys Don't Cry") was intrigued by the prospect tackling Stephen King's "Carrie." The material takes two key rites of passage for young women -- their first period, and their high school prom -- and blends it with oppressive religious fundamentalism and the supernatural, into one unforgettable tale, with rich subtext and themes to play with. But in terms of a remake, the question has always been whether or not anyone could top or put their own mark on "Carrie" after Brian De Palma did it with such style and panache. And to Peirce's credit, she did have an approach that was unique, at least theoretically.

Carrie, 2013
For a movie that opens on Friday, there isn't a whole lot we know about "Carrie," the highly anticipated remake of the beloved Brian De Palma film (based, once again, on Stephen King's debut novel). "Boys Don't Cry" filmmaker Kimberly Peirce directed the remake from a script by certifiable genius Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, although studio Sony has been cagey about screening the movie and only a handful of people have actually seen it (including those who attended the "Carrie" panel at New York Comic Con last weekend). Instead, we'll all have to make due with the clips that have been popping up online—like the one we have right here (via Comic Book Movie).

Lisa Cholodenko Out, Sacha Gervasi In For 'November Criminals' With Chloe Moretz To Star

While Sacha Gervasi has been trying for the longest time to get his "My Dinner With Hervé" — a biopic about "Fantasy Island" star Hervé Villechaize with Peter Dinklage and Dominic Cooper linked — off the ground, we can only imagine getting it financed in this climate would be tricky. And when we spoke to the "Anvil!" and "Hitchcock" director last year, he seemed uncertain about what would be next on his plate. Well, it looks like that question is now answered.

Star Wars George Lucas
Barely a week has passed since word was kicking around about the future of the "Star Wars" franchise, which is now sitting in the hands of J.J. Abrams, and even though 'Episode 7' is still a distance from its 2015, it seems it's all anyone can talk about. Moreover, it looks like George Lucas is feeling a bit conflicted about not being a bigger part of that conversation.
