Snowpiercer
Few films without a firm release date (in most of the world, at least) have inspired as much chatter of late than Bong Joon-ho's "Snowpiercer." The English-language debut of the South Korean mastermind behind "Memories of Murder," "The Host" and "Mother," it features an all-star cast and a hefty budget, and was snapped up early on by The Weinstein Company.

Snowpiercer
By time point, you might be tired of hearing about Bong Joon-ho's snow laden, apocalyptic epic "Snowpiercer." And we'd understand. First there was the months of wrangling about when this movie would be seen stateside, and in which version (don't worry, we're getting the director's cut), and then there's been the plethora of promo material as film has opened overseas. Well, if you're not exhausted yet, here's one more trailer.

A Many Splintered Thing
As the prestigious Cannes Film Festival comes to a close today, perhaps it’s time to shift our ever-so-serious, “yeah, but is it Palme-worthy?” gaze elsewhere. And maybe we’ll point it at something less exalted, perhaps not to be esteemed at all, who knows?

Snowpiercer
After much drama about which cut of "Snowpiercer" was going to get released, the beef between Harvey Weinstein and Bong Joon-Ho was eventually smoothed over. Joon-Ho's cut will get released, albeit in a limited bow, and the movie opens the L.A. Film Festival next month. So how about some new pics until you can see this thing this summer?

Captain America 2, Best/Worst
This past Friday, after opening worldwide a few weeks earlier and performing like gangbusters, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," the ninth Marvel Studios movie to date, arrived in the U.S., and swiftly proceeded to be the biggest opening of 2014 to date, smashing April records with a hefty $96 million weekend. That's a big step up for the second adventure to topline Chris Evans' super-soldier Steve Rogers to date, no doubt helped by very positive reaction from fans and critics alike.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
This weekend, the only film opening in wide release stateside is "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." Why are the other studios staying away? Because Marvel's movie is going to be a monster, with tracking suggesting it's poised to open with over $90 million this weekend, smashing previous April records, and Marvel is doing all they can to put every single butt in the seats.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
He might not be a space Viking or a talking raccoon, but Captain America was almost as tricky a character to bring to the screen in the 21st century as some of his Marvel contemporaries — standing for sincerity and purity in an age of grittiness and irony, and wearing the stars-and-stripes in an age when international box-office is key. As such, the character's first appearance in 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger," is probably best described as a modest success, both critically (an enjoyably retro first half giving way to a flatter, more formless second), and commercially — at $370 million, it's the second lowest-grossing of the Marvel pictures so far.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
With Marvel throwing down the gauntlet, and plotting "Captain America 3" to open on the same weekend as "Batman Vs. Superman," they are revealing a tremendous amount of faith in the upcoming "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." It seems they already believe that not only will be a hit, it will lead a third movie where anticipation will be...well, Batman and Superman sized. And so they continue to push hard to make sure everyone checks it out in a couple of weeks.
