Two projects have cropped up this afternoon, one of which that needs financing and the other a director, with both featuring two of the best acting talents around. So let's hope some movie producers open up their wallets and do their jobs.

Guardians Of The Galaxy
The first trailer for "Guardians Of Galaxy" dropped on Monday night, and for the most part, fans were hugely enthusiastic about James Gunn's film, vibing with the winking tone of the superhero flick. But there was one major thing missing from its first promo: voices. Outside of Chris Pratt's Star-Lord, we didn't really hear anything out of the rest of the (mostly CGI enhanced) cast. Well, that's about to change.

Guardians Of The Galaxy
So, a superhero movie with a raccoon and talking tree among the team, many have said (including us) that "Guardians Of The Galaxy" represents the biggest roll of the dice Marvel has taken to date. Just don't tell that to director James Gunn. "I don't think it's the riskiest Marvel property," he told Total Film. "I think 'Iron Man' was by far the riskiest. It was a film company that didn't have much, raising money to make a film based on a property that wasn't that much more well known than 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' So I think it's not even close to the riskiest Marvel property." Of course, Tony Stark now has three standalone movies to his name and the question is, can 'Guardians' reach that level of success?

Guardians Of The Galaxy
Up until now it's been either concept art, or photos that pretty much look like concept art, but Marvel's "Guardians Of The Galaxy" has finally revealed itself with its initial first-look photos. “There's a whole lot to this movie–it's not a stage play," lead star Chris Pratt told USA Today said of the movie's scope and scale. "You couldn't make Guardians Of The Galaxy the play and put it on Broadway."

It's easy to view "The Lego Movie" with a degree of skepticism, if not outright suspicion. This is, after all, a movie that is based on a popular line of building block toys, and one that, unlike big screen adaptations of things like "Transformers" or "Battleship," actually retain the original toy's childlike designs. In fact, "The Lego Movie" goes out of its way to remind you of the tiny plastic construction toys that you grew up and probably manipulated in some unwholesome ways. So a degree of cynicism is probably warranted, considering just how closely the movie could resemble a feature-length commercial (and to be sure, whole aisles of toy stores are currently being flooded by the stuff). But it turns out that "The Lego Movie" is an absolute blast—a whip-smart, surprisingly emotional family film where the toy property is seen less as a concrete template than a tool for seemingly limitless potential.

"Everything is awesome!" goes the official theme song to "The Lego Movie," and while critics will eventually decide if that's actually the case, it's had to deny that spirit that's powering the Warner Bros. flick. Even though the entire movie is built around one of the most popular toys of all time, there's a weird innocent sweetness permeating from "The Lego Movie," which is certainly a nice change from the usual crass commercialism these kinds of movies project.

Her, Joaquin Phoenix
Is social media anti-social? Has the information age divided us as much as it has been meant to unite? Is peer-to-peer simply an ironic term or are inter-personal, face-time relationships ripe for redefinition? While these are not the primary concerns of Spike Jonze’s lovely and perceptive relationship drama, “Her,” such implications are impossible to ignore in a movie that uses innovative and unconventional methods to explore some very universal anxieties.

Her, Joaquin Phoenix
December is traditionally viewed as the time for studios’ most fitting awards season offerings, but this year the hopefuls also happen to be some top filmmakers’ most singular and personal films yet, including work from the Coen Brothers, David O. Russell, and Martin Scorsese. One of the most narratively and visually daring of these though is Spike Jonze’s “Her” which depicts a futuristic romance between Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson’s disembodied voice, and in the lead up to its release this week we’ve got a slew of clips to show exactly what we mean.

Delivery Man
Few actors carry the ability of Vince Vaughn in conveying an unique type of smooth-talking weariness, but 51 films into his career that expression has seeped over into the work itself. The jittery wiseguys of “Swingers” and “Return to Paradise” have aged into truly desperate futures; the films that they now inhabit carry only a high-concept logline, a new, forgettable occupation for Vaughn to try, and hopefully a few laughs to render the whole thing serviceable. To the credit of “Delivery Man,” which sees NYC schlub David Wozniak (Vaughn) discovering that his old sperm bank haunt has erred and resulted in 533 of his biological children being produced, Vaughn’s occupation is a little more memorable this time.

Chris Pratt
So, is Chris Pratt going to be the next big thing? The "Parks & Recreation" star certainly has a busy agent, who has lined him up in a co-starring role opposite Vince Vaughn in this month's "Delivery Man," and of course the actor will be seen in next summer's Marvel gamble "Guardians Of The Galaxy." And that's following stints in stuff like "Moneyball" and "Zero Dark Thirty" that allowed him to show a bit of range. And it looks like another tentpole project is coming Pratt's way.
