American Hustle Bradley Cooper Christian Bale
Yeah these haircuts look amazing right? Seems like the stuff of a good, "The Informant!" style comedy, doesn't it? Well, hold on to that thought as Sony has stressed that David O. Russell's upcoming "American Hustle" is strictly a drama, though we think the '70s setting and wardrobe are still pretty lol-worthy. But we're sure once the story gets moving, all of that will be pushed to side because it's based on a pretty fascinating true tale.

It's been two years since Todd Haynes' outstanding HBO miniseries "Mildred Pierce," and frankly that's two years too long. But he's quietly been brewing some projects in the background. Earlier this year, it was announced he was teaming with Cate Blanchett and Mia Wasikowska for "Carol," based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith, but not much has been heard since. Now, another project is surfacing and it could find him working again with an actor who has anchored his more musical-based films.

superman and batman
OK, we’re finally catching up with this near-exhausting week. Last weekend at Comic-Con, director Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. unveiled a huge bombshell. Nope, not a “Man Of Steel” sequel or a “Justice League” movie. Instead they unexpectedly went laterally and announced an untitled “Superman and Batman” film (perhaps much to the lament of pure Superman fans who are probably still reeling from the fact that the masked crimefighter just hijacked a second “Man Of Steel” right out from under them).

Out Of The Furnace Christian Bale Woody Harrelson
"RELEAAAAAASSSE MEEEEEEEEEEE," Eddie Vedder bellows all over this first trailer for Scott Cooper's "Out Of The Furnace," adding a pretty dense layer of fromage to what looks like a pretty gritty little drama. Let's hope it's just a case of good movie, not so hot trailer? We'll see, but let's dive in...

So, we guess this means we're getting closer to a trailer… Earlier this week, we got the first images from "Out Of The Furnace," the gritty drama from "Crazy Heart" director Scott Cooper featuring a great cast including Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Zoe Saldana, Sam Shepard and Willem Dafoe, and now a few more have arrived.

With a release date set right in the heart of the awards season, Relativity are now starting the push for "Crazy Heart" director Scott Cooper's "Out Of The Furnace." We'd wager a trailer is likely just around the corner, but until then, the first official images from the movie are here to remind you what a star studded affair this truly is.

It was only as recently as this past spring that rumors swirled of Christopher Nolan being asked to oversee "Justice League," with Christian Bale to once again reprise Batman. But any notion of either being involved seemed like something of a longshot. Nolan has always stressed that his "The Dark Knight" trilogy stood alone from anything else Warner Bros. was cooking up with their DC properties and even last month, screenwriter David Goyer stressed, "It would be disingenuous to say Warner Bros doesn’t hope that ['Man Of Steel'] would be the starting point for a shared universe. And Zack has said that Bruce Wayne exists in this universe. It would be a different Bruce Wayne from Chris’ [Nolan] Dark Knight trilogy..." But now we have word straight from the actor himself.

"It turned out great, it will not disappoint you. Whoo, it's powerful, it's great, It's not a joyful movie, but it's a very intense movie." Ok, so Woody Harrelson has already seen "Out Of The Furnace," and now we're doubly stoked for it. So wait, for those that may not know, what is it exactly? "Out Of The Furnace" is an upcoming American revenge thriller directed by Scott Cooper and it features an awesome cast that includes Christian Bale, Forest Whitaker, Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck, Zoe Saldana, Sam Shepard and Willem Dafoe. Composer Dickon Hinchliffe ("Winter's Bone") is leading the score and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder is writing an original tune for the movie. Clearly there's a lot of talent involved.

We were a bit depressed about the reception to "To The Wonder." When Terrence Malick's latest premiered in Venice last year, we found it beguiling and beautiful, and arguably superior to his previous picture "The Tree Of Life." But the critical consensus didn't agree with us, and the film picked up some harsh notices, and in the month since it was released, has made only $500,000 at the U.S. box office.
