With Steven Spielberg leaving "Gods And Kings," the developing Moses movie over at Warner Bros (they're now keen on getting Ang Lee to take over), Fox isn't wasting a minute to try and beat them to the punch. You may have forgotten, but among the many, many, many, many, many, many, many projects Ridley Scott has on his plate is a Moses movie of his own. Apparently, this one is gaining fresh heat thanks to Steve Zaillian's rewrite, and Fox has their eye on a leading man.

George Clooney aside, it's been a strong trend in David O. Russell's career to secure great performances from actors and then continue to bring them back for further projects. The director's latest instance of such is with the Weinstein-backed romantic drama, “The Ends of the Earth,” reteaming with his “Silver Linings Playbook” actress Jennifer Lawrence, and now another previous collaborator is slated to come onboard.

In every interview he did last year -- including our interview with him from December -- Christopher Nolan maintained that his take on Bruce Wayne and Batman was over with “The Dark Knight Rises.” Now, however, Latino Review (via Forbes) is reporting that Warner Bros. -- after possibly scrapping Will Beall’s draft -- is in talks to get the secretive director on board for the future of their superhero slate with a little help from his friends.

Mountains: the new volcanoes. Fifteen years ago, erupting hills of lava formed the basis of dueling studio tentpoles, in the form of "Volcano" and "Dante's Peak," and now a similar showdown is brewing over their more dormant, solid cousins, with the announcement of a second film focusing on the tallest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest. A little while back it was announced that Sony were planning "Everest," with Doug Liman directing and Tom Hardy starring, about George Mallory, the first man to attempt the peak, only to die on the third attempt (spoiler!).

So, what could make a cast with Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams and Louis C.K. even better? How about some Jennifer Lawrence?

Christian Bale and Casey Affleck teaming up for "Out Of The Furnace," the long-awaited sophomore effort from "Crazy Heart" director Scott Cooper, is pretty much all the reason we needed to place it on our Most Anticipated Of 2013 list. But the gritty Rust Belt tale about two brothers who become ensnared in a violent crime ring, now has another texture to add to the drama its cooking up.

Many have posited that when F. Scott Fitzgerald said there are no second acts in American lives, he meant, we cannot escape our pasts. Someone who has proven that maxim wrong is director David O. Russell. As he told THR directors' roundtable recently, the latter half of the aughts landed in the filmmaker in a tricky place.

Let the speculatin' begin (again). During the entire press run for Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises," the drum beat played by everyone around the picture, from the director through each member of the cast, was that it was the end. There would be no fourth movie. Christian Bale said he wouldn't suit up again (unless Nolan wanted him to) and even with Joseph Gordon-Levitt revealed to be Robin/the new Batman, the actor insisted that there was no need for any spinoffs. Never say never, we suppose...there may be something transpiring....

Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" subverted the usual superhero movie expectations, providing an experience rooted in character that still played into the grand myth of Batman. One of the many ways in which Nolan and co. turned things on their head was featuring the grand battle between Batman the villain Bane in the first third of the movie. And then having him lose. While they square off again later in the movie, this is in many ways the piece de resistance and it's not a surprise that getting it right took some work.
