Zero Theorem
Terry Gilliam's “The Zero Theorem,” which is the very first thing on our Best Films on 2014 We've Already Seen list, and which our own Oliver Lyttleton gave a pretty decent review in Venice, finally found a US distributor a couple of weeks ago and will hit American screens this summer. In the meantime it's appearing in various parts of the world already, and was released in the UK last week.

The Zero Theorem
"Watchmen" may have come out five years ago, but it feels like yesterday given the back-and-forth that's happening through the various participants in the project. Joel Silver, producer of the version that was once slated be directed by Terry Gilliam, started the ball rolling by calling out Zack Snyder's film as being a "slave" to Alan Moore's comic. Snyder didn't take long to respond, declaring that his movie was made to "save it from the Terry Gilliams of the world," and now Gilliam himself has entered the fray.

Or perhaps you went straight to bed like the rest of us. But no worries, because the highlights are now online.

Quentin Tarantino,
“I do like the fact that everyone eventually posts [my scripts], gets it and reviews it on the net. I like the fact that people like my shit, and that they go out of their way to find it and read it," Quentin Tarantino recently told Deadline. And while we're not going to defend Gawker's wanton leaking of the script, we are going to look at the director’s would-be Western “The Hateful Eight” in some broad strokes.

Zero Theorem
" 'Zero Theorem' was more a reaction to the connected world," director Terry Gilliam told us at the Marrakech Film Festival in December. "We all exist as part of the connection, we are a neuron in this bigger thing, can we disconnect? Can solitude be more interesting? I don’t know if people know who they are unless they spend time alone...they only know reactions, tweets etc, not actual existences. So that’s what interested me in the script, and we just started working. The film is much different than the film we started with. I like this film!" But will we like it? The first official trailer is here to make the case.

For the the months that followed "Django Unchained," filmmaker Quentin Tarantino had been hinting he was hoping to direct a Western next. And then at the end of the year on Jay Leno, he spelled it out in no uncertain terms; he was making a Western next, but it wasn't going to be a sequel to "Django Unchained," or "Killer Crow," the prequel to "Inglourious Basterds," he'd been discussing in several interviews after his slavery epic was done. Well, he kept his promise. And when QT puts his mind to it, he evidently spits out a script quick.

Chris Pine
"Horrible Bosses 2" is a thing that is happening mostly because the first film, surprisingly, took in over $200 million worldwide. It seemed audiences loved bad wigs and famous people playing mean bosses, because the movie itself wasn't so hot. But the concept is an easy sell and if they can recruit more people to gleefully give Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day and Jason Bateman a hard time, this thing will market itself.
