Just a couple of days after the UK trailer came tearing around the track, we now get a U.S. spot for Ron Howard's racing drama "Rush" along with some new pics for the movie that's revving its engine pretty hard, pretty early. We're still months away from the film arriving, but perhaps Universal realizes that racing movies probably need a bit of a harder push than other genres. Good thing that so far, it looks pretty rock solid.

The racing genre as a whole doesn't offer a lot to choose from, particularly when it comes to dramas that just stick to the race track and don't burn your retinas like "Speed Racer" or jack up your experience with 'splosions like the "Fast & Furious" franchise. In fact, it's been a while since we've had a movie set strictly on the race track, but Ron Howard's "Rush" is not only getting behind that wheel, but also telling a great story.

While “Lincoln” hovers in DreamWorks' awards season spotlight mainly for Daniel Day Lewis' towering performance, the studio is wisely also glancing ahead to its other doppelganger drama, WikiLeaks biopic “The Fifth Estate,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Julian Assange. They've certainly put in a vote of confidence with a locked winter 2013 release date, but one party remain less than thrilled simply on the entire prospect: the famed whistleblower himself.

We're still over a month away from the 2013 Oscars, but consider the 2014 season open, courtesy of DreamWorks. The company (who are leading the field with "Lincoln" this year) have been prepping their WikiLeaks movie, directed by "Gods and Monsters" and "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" helmer Bill Condon, for some time, but it was slightly unclear when it would be hitting theaters. But with filming now underway, they've put their cards on the table, revealing a title, an awards-season release date, and an impressive supporting cast.

The star of Paul Verhoeven's undervalued "Black Book," Carice Van Houten, was tipped for big things after that film bowed in 2006. The actress picked up Hollywood roles in "Valkyrie" and "Repo Men" but neither role was particularly rewarding, and she had a quiet few years after. But the Dutch star (who has a side career in the music industry) picked up a prominent role as sorceress Melisandre in HBO's "Game Of Thrones" (she'll be returning to the show for the third season when it debuts in March), and now she's landed a role in another big Hollywood picture.

It looks like we'll have to keep waiting for the reunion between "Atonement" and "Starter For 10" stars Benedict Cumberbatch and James McAvoy. While it was just a few weeks ago that it was reported the pair would team for the Bill Condon-directed WikiLeaks movie, it looks like McAvoy has moved on.

Even with only two feature films under his belt, photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn has become a director with a distinct voice. His debut "Control" was a startling look at the life of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis, while his followup "The American" placed George Clooney in a pretty nifty anti-thriller that favored mood over action. And so we couldn't be more excited about this next, the John Le Carré adaptation of "A Most Wanted Man." And with production now starting, a few more names an official synopsis have been revealed for the picture.

While we've seen paparazzi snaps on set of Ron Howard's Formula 1 racing drama "Rush" -- or rather, "epic action drama" if you go by the official synopsis -- the official website has unveiled the first official photos from the film. Written by Peter Morgan ("Hereafter," "The Queen"), "Rush" reteams the "Frost/Nixon" writing directing team for a re-creation of the merciless 1970s Formula 1 rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda, played by "The Avengers" and "Snow White and the Huntsman" star Chris Hemsworth, and Daniel Brühl, known for his turn in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds."

Sure, I know we all wish that Ron Howard was making “The Dark Tower” right now, but hopefully he’ll still be able to get around to that sooner or later. Instead he’s making “Rush” – a biopic that’s starting to look very box-office friendly after the relative success of last year’s Formula One doc “Senna,” and the continual rise of one of its stars, Chris Hemsworth. Hemsworth will play James Hunt, whose rivalry with Daniel Bruhl’s Niki Lauda will be the driving force (badumtish) of Howard’s film.
