A Most Wanted Man
As the line between television and film gets blurrier, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish exactly what makes something qualify to be a film at all. Particularly in the age of “Homeland” and “The Americans,” some may leave a slow-burning, understated spy caper like “A Most Wanted Man” wondering if it wouldn’t have been better served as a limited series on Netflix or HBO. And it will be a perfectly valid question. Based on the novel by John le Carré (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”), the film is the new anti-thriller from director Anton Corbijn and centers on the war on terror in Germany via a tapestry of several characters, chiefly Gunther (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a grizzled counter-terrorist intelligence officer stationed in Hamburg after a previous fuck up in Beirut.

An actor who is currently thrilling us with the choices he's making is Jake Gyllenhaal. Did you see that terrific teaser for "Nightcrawler" yet? Watch it here. Anyway, another promising project on his plate is “Dallas Buyers Club” director Jean-Marc Vallee's "Demolition," and he's being joined by Naomi Watts.

A Most Wanted Man
When it comes to government intelligence, it would seem that managing assets is just as important as catching criminals. And what happens when that line blurs? That seems to be the crux of Anton Corbijn's upcoming "A Most Wanted Man," and a new international trailer has arrived.

Edgar Ramirez, Point Break
Personally, I have zero interest or nostalgia for “Point Break” or the remake, but the remake just got a serious upgrade. In the lead role was Gerard Butler, until he dropped out recently and but he's now been replaced with Edgar Ramirez. The Venezuelan actor is far from a well-known actor, but he killed it as Carlos The Jackal in Oliver Assayas' three-part "Carlos" epic in 2010 and was strong in "The Bourne Ultimatum," Steven Soderbergh's "Che" and "Zero Dark Thirty."

A Most Wanted Man
The films of Anton Corbijn — well, the two he's made thus far, "Control" and "The American" — are marked by a careful, calculating style where every frame and every shot counts in the building of a particular mood or tension. And much of that seems the same in his next, "A Most Wanted Man," with the first trailer dropping today.

The Woman In Gold Andrew Garfield Helen Mirren
Like some kind of Irish acting shark, Liam Neeson cannot stop working or else he dies. Though he’s already set to shoot “Taken 3” this spring—with no one being taken, strangely enough—The Wrap reports the “Non-Stop” actor has been spotted filming a scene on the set of the long-awaited “Entourage” movie opposite Jeremy Piven.

The Face Of An Angel
“We bought the rights to the book that tells the story of the trial, but our film is not really about that, so we are always a bit wary of even saying that,” director Michael Winterbottom told THR last summer about his upcoming drama based on American journalist Barbie Latza Nadeau's book "Angel Face: Sex, Murder and the Inside Story of Amanda Knox." “Our film is actually about losing a daughter, losing someone close to you; why are we so interested in violence and why are we not more interested in love.” Well, it's a nice claim to make but based on this first teaser trailer/promo reel for the movie, the trial takes center stage.

Oscar Snubs, Surprises: 2014
Well, the Oscar nominations are in and Twitter has exploded with the usual flurry of WTF?s, OMG!s and TOLDJA!s (perhaps we follow the wrong people). And while in general it seems like a lot of the last-minute trend predictions went in the right direction (Redford went very cool for “All is Lost,” “Inside Llewyn Davis” too, though perhaps not quite icy enough to predict a near-total shut-out), in amongst the various entirely expected nominations, there were a fair number of films and performances we didn’t expect to see, and a few we had to double check we didn’t (you can read our full predictions here to see how right and wrong we were).

Given it's six months later, we're not sure if this is the same sizzle reel that debuted in the summer, but an international trailer for Anton Corbijn's "A Most Wanted Man" is back online. The film is set to debut at Sundance 2014 later this month, and while it wasn't in part one of our 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2014, check back on Monday and we bet you'll see it there (and for those keeping score it was there in 2013 too).
