Queen Of The Night Ryan Reynolds
It's been four years since Atom Egoyan's last feature, the sleazy erotic thriller "Chloe," but he's making up for that absence by being very, very busy. He's got two movies on the way -- the already shot and in post-production West Memphis Three drama "The Devil's Knot," which he quickly followed up with "Queen Of The Night," lensed earlier this year. And now, the first image from the film has arrived.

Daniel Radcliffe is not your little Harry Potter anymore. The actor is quickly shedding his boy-wizard skin, taking on a vast array of projects and scoring a hit with last year's "The Woman In Black." He has a diverse slate of projects on the way that includes indie Beat movie "Kill Your Darlings," fantasy/horror thing "Horns," and rom-com "The F Word." Dude can apparently do it all, and now he's going to face off against the Yakuza. No, really.

Thought the awards season was long done? Not quite. Last night saw the 18th annual Jameson Empire Awards, presented annually by the UK film magazine, the biggest in the world, and one of the largest such ceremonies to have their winners voted for by the public. This year, there's been a big push for more recognition for the ceremony, with probably the starriest and glitziest evening in recent memory, and we were there last night to see the winners revealed.

When any filmmaker decides to chronicle a largely undocumented or unknown corner of history revolving around famous cultural figures, a question that can raise its head is: what's underneath the surface that compels the director to make the story?

As far as a post-Potter career goes, Daniel Radcliffe is doing pretty nicely. He won acclaim on Broadway, starred in the global sleeper hit "The Woman in Black," picked up good reviews alongside Jon Hamm for TV miniseries "The Young Doctor's Notebook," and has generally proven to be a pretty smart cookie in terms of carving our a career away from his biggest franchise that's closer to Harrison Ford than Mark Hamill. And the next stage? Cracking the indie scene, with the young actor's first Sundance premiere.

Over in the U.K., Sky’s television channels are beginning to challenge the traditional powerhouses (BBC, ITV and Channel 4) when it comes to commissioning original comedy and drama. They’ve moved a lot quicker in producing strong comedies by attracting the likes of Chris O’Dowd, Armando Iannucci and Steve Coogan (who provided the channel with brand new Alan Partridge content), Charlie Brooker and Ruth Jones over to their channels, and they’re slowly starting to do the same with original drama.

Quickly announced earlier this year, we had pretty much entirely forgotten about the Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe team-up in the miniseries "A Young Doctor's Notebook." But not only has it already shot, it airs next month in the U.K. and fresh images have been unveiled for your eyeballs.

While Shawn Levy considered directing it for a while, it appears that Levy moving off the project and directing "The Internship" instead, and Fox hiring "Lucky Number Slevin" helmer Paul McGuigan to direct, has put a new surge of electricity back into the studio's brewing "Frankenstein." And that juice could bring with it a major franchise star to take the lead role.
