Over the past few weeks, "American Horror Story: Coven" has piled on the craziness, to the point that the show occasionally felt overwhelming, like a giant toppling tower of racist, flesh-eating zombies that are also possessed and on fire. Mercifully, this week's episode, "The Dead," written by co-creator Brad Falchuk, gave us time to pause and catch our breath a little bit before the next round of blood-drenched mayhem.

After receiving rave reviews for his animated feature “Waltz with Bachir” in 2008, Israeli director Ari Folman divided critics with his new movie “The Congress” at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes this year. Our reviewer on the field described the piece as ambitious, unique and bold but "overloaded with too many ideas". The film is "regularly diverting from any sort of central narrative to follow tenuous and ill-explained threads that end up in a foggy limbo" and "it poses the old question of whether the immense ambition of the project should be admired over the fact that it falls down on so many of those ambitions."

It's not really a surprise that Eric Roberts has signed to star in the horror sequel no one cares about (do they?) "The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence)." After all, this is the guy who makes a movie more frequently than people take showers (seriously, look at his IMDb page) and has no quality barometer at all.

Cannes Review: Ari Folman's Part-Animated 'The Congress' Is Overstuffed And Overwritten, But Sort Of Fascinating

Ari Folman's "The Congress" aka "Robin Wright at The Congress" aka "Reviewer's Nightmare" (last title mine) opens the director's fortnight at Cannes this evening and screened for a group of alternately beguiled and baffled press this morning. Evoking Miyazaki and perhaps on-form Gilliam in its best moments, and lurching oddly into "Southland Tales" territory in its worst, it is a film we'd be happy to call a fascinating muddle, were it not a little overstretched to really support even that summation. At the very least, however, should your copy of "Pink Floyd's The Wall" have worn out through overuse, we can see "The Congress" having a similar kind of life as a late-night stoner mindfuck.

No stranger to biopics, Edgar Ramirez (“Carlos” and “Che”) has signed on to play Simón Bolívar, the Venezuelan military and political leader who was instrumental in Latin America’s successful struggle for independence from the Spanish Empire, in “Libertador.”

While a definitive release date has yet to be locked down, a poster and a collection of stills has debuted for the new Nicolas Cage thriller "Stolen" (formerly "Medallion," which made it sound like a negligible Jackie Chan movie), with the appropriately Nic Cage-y tagline: "12 hours. $10 million. 1 kidnapped daughter." We're not sure about the math, but we're certainly excited about the movie!

Danny Huston In Talks To Star As President NixonAs if the art of acting wasn't difficult enough, how about taking on a character that would lay claim to being the most regularly portrayed and impersonated in real life and a role that warrants it's own lengthy section on Wikipedia dedicated to listing all the people who played the exact same part on screen in the past? That's the challenge fronting Eric Bana who will soon play Elvis Presley in Cary Elwes' directorial debut, "Elvis & Nixon."

'Eastern Promises' Scribe Steven Knight Rewrote Script, Gemma Arterton Nowhere To Be SeenIt's almost exactly a year since "Clash of the Titans" opened, overcoming some tough competition, a beyond-shoddy 3D conversion and terrible reviews to pick up a hugely impressive half-billion dollars worldwide. While filming has been underway for a few weeks in the U.K. on the yet-to-be-officially-titled sequel ("Wrath of the Titans" has been bandied about, but never confirmed), Warner Bros has sent out a press release to officially announce the start of principle photography, and it's confirmed a few cast members, as well as giving the first detailed description of the plot.
