The Sound And The Fury
Alongside Cormac McCarthy, William Faulkner is the author of most interest to James Franco. Last year, Franco went to Cannes with his adaptation of "As I Lay Dying," which utilized split screens to capture to the many voices encompassing the story's narrative simultaneously. And while it remains to be seen what aesthetic tricks Franco will bring to his latest Faulkner-derived project, "The Sound And The Fury," the first batch of images from the movie indicate his inclinations.

It’s difficult to keep tabs on the absolute torrent of curveballs that Shia LaBeouf has thrown our way in his quest to explore the celebrity condition. His dedication to plagiarizing Joaquin Phoenix’s arc in “I’m Still Here” is admirable, though: first there was the tales of unhinged behavior, then the retirement from acting, and recently the grand admission of it all as performance art. All of which leaves (hopefully) only one last move: the return to the big screen.

Big-screen success has been elusive for the comedic duo, but that hasn’t kept Danny McBride and Jody Hill from creating one of the most iconic comedic characters in Kenny Powers on the HBO series “Eastbound & Down.” Though that show is winding down with its final season airing later this year, McBride and Hill are sticking around on the famed cable network. Deadline reports that the two creative partners are developing another comedy series for the network, described as their “look at high school.” The final season of “Eastbound & Down” arrives in September, just in time for the MLB playoffs.

Cameron Crowe has been keeping details on his next film a little bit on the down low. He's not quite Noah Baumbach, but aside from the cast— Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams and Emma Stone— we don't really know much else about the film. Granted it's expected to be reworking of the filmmaker's aborted "Deep Tiki," which he was once slated to make with Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon, but what exactly he's changed remains to be seen. But we do now know one more cast member who's coming aboard.

The Sound And The Fury James Franco Jon Hamm
Well, that didn't take long. Less than a week after bailing on directing "The Garden Of Last Days" James Franco has another directorial effort in the works, it's yet another literary adaptation and he's rounding up friends and colleagues to take part.

This Is The End, Hill, Rihanna
The end is nigh. To think it all started in 2007 as "Jay And Seth Versus The Apocalypse" a short YouTube clip starring Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel as themselves if they were degenerate roommates living in squalor during the apocalypse. This of course evolved into what's now known as "This Is The End," an ensemble apocalypse comedy that's expanded to also include friends-playing-themselves like James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson.

This Is The End
While Jonah Hill and James Franco have each earned Oscar nominations, with Danny McBride finding roles both dramatic and comedic on the small and big screen, Jay Baruchel showing new shades on the stage and Craig Robinson adding textures to his comic persona, it's really been Seth Rogen who has more or less continued to play a version of himself since day one. Even in parts that potentially stretched his skills in "Green Hornet" and "50/50," the affable goofball with a predilection for weed was never too far away. And so, perhaps it only makes sense that he would co-write and co-direct (with Evan Goldberg) as well as co-star in "This Is The End," which requires nothing more than everyone involved offering riffs on their established personas. It's certainly not rocket science, but your mileage with the movie will depend on how much you like these guys to begin with, because even if you're a fan, the one joke premise has a hard time sustaining a full length movie.

As I Lay Dying, James Franco
Among the many filmmakers and actors packing their bags for Cannes this year is James Franco, because nary a festival can go by with something by the multitasking polymath being in the mix. And this year, the south of France will be getting his adaptation of William Faulkner's "As I Lay Dying," which looks to be a bit more than just an art goof by Daniel Desario.
