Louder Than Words
A girl rides her bicycle on a sunglazed afternoon in a typically isolated suburban neighborhood during the pretty looking fall season. Her voiceover talks to the audience, and assumes to know what we’re all thinking; this must be the beginning of a sad story. She assures us it’s not. She tells us that the story is about her family and how much they all love each other. It hasn’t even been 5 minutes and part of us already feels how much we’d be fighting the urge to change the channel if we happened on this opening of Anthony Fabian’s “Louder Than Words” on TV. How infinitely more interesting it would be if the little girl could assume that! But this is the furthest you can get from a Chris Miller and Phil Lloyd meta movie, so we’re stuck with a picture that rides on the coattails of its good intentions and doesn’t know how to take a hint from its own title.

A few bits and bobs of casting, so let's just dive right in....first up, the always excellent Shea Whigam ("Take Shelter," "Silver Linings Playbook") has taken a role in his "Boardwalk Empire" executive producer Martin Scorsese's new film "The Wolf Of Wall Street." Based on the memoir of the same name, and adapted by Terence Winter, the film will tell the true story of Jordan Belfort, a wheeling and dealing New York stockbroker who sees his career and personal life fall into shambles thanks to sex, drugs and alcohol.

This indie project has been kicking around for a while, and was first announced almost exactly a year ago with a cast made up of David Duchovny, Robin Wright, Josh Brolin, Hopper Penn, Jason Schwartzman and Robert Schwartzman. Well, the film "Goats" is now finally ready to move forward in front of cameras, and only one man remains standing from that initial lineup.
