Two of the most-talked about films of last year were united by one thing; both David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis" and Leos Carax's "Holy Motors" were set over a single day, and starred a protagonist being driven around a city in a limousine. But what if key participants in both were united in one single project? Surely limo-loving, arthouse-inclined movie fans would be dancing in the street if that were to be the case?

This is one on the tongues of cinephiles this fall -- Leos Carax's long-awaited feature film effort, "Holy Motors." While this writer had mixed feelings on the meta movie swirl, it seems to be a minority opinion, as most have been taken by the film's ambition and playfulness. With an eclectic cast that includes, among others, regular collaborator Denis Lavant, Eva Mendes and popstar Kylie Minogue, we were always intrigued with what Leos Carax had in store for us with the odd tale "Holy Motors." And we'll be honest, we've had images, clips and now a trailer but we're just as confused as ever.

While it's probably still slightly too early to begin talking about what films will be headed to Cannes in May, one film that almost seems a certainty at this point is Leos Carax's "Holly Motors." Carax has already presented a film in competition with "Pola X" in 1999 and won Award For The Youth in 1984 for “Boy Meets Girl.” But whether it makes the Croisette or not, this is still one of the more intriguing arthouse prospects of the year.
