A Hard Day's Night
They're the most important band in the history of pop music, but The Beatles have surprisingly featured relatively little on screen. Obviously, they featured directly in the great "A Hard Day's Night," "Help" and "Yellow Submarine," but latter-day attempts to capture their stories or songs on screen have ended up more like "Nowhere Boy" or "Across The Universe." There have been projects in development; Michael Winterbottom is developing a project called "The Longest Cocktail Party," and Peyton Reed was attached to a biopic of Beatles manager Brian Epstein before he crossed the picket line to direct "Ant-Man." But neither have made it to production.

Engineered for maximum velocity, super-torqued hairpin turns and high-octane thrills (obviously), thanks to the likes of the “Fast & Furious,” you should know exactly what to expect from the upcoming junior series, “Need For Speed” aka “Hot Wheels: The Movie.” But if the ‘F&F’ series is often absurdly entertaining with riotous cinematic maximalism in the pole position, “Need For Speed” is comparatively humorless, arguably dumber and doesn’t boast the same visual horsepower.

Aaron Paul is going from breaking bad to breaking speed limits (sorry), and trying on his franchise wings with "Need For Speed," which is using a Super Bowl ad slot to get you in the racing mood.

Summer In February
There is no doubt that setting can inform character, with the surroundings and mood of a time and place, coming to bear on those living and interacting with those elements. But there needs to be some dimension to the characters on the page first, as no amount of costume design, set decoration or beautifully composed landscape shots can mask thin writing. And it's a lesson that veteran TV and movie director Christopher Menaul seemed to have forgotten when making "Summer In February," a handsomely dull romantic drama penned by author Jonathan Smith (based on his own book), in which characters totter around the beautiful English countryside wringing their hands over their lot, but without doing much about it.

Fleming
As you patiently wait for "Bond 24," which is now slated for a fall 2015 release, you still need your fill of gadgets and well dressed men bedding beautiful women while saving the world. From the director of "Antitrust" and co-writer of "Flightplan"! Excited yet?! Those are the best endorsements the marketing people could muster for "Reasonable Doubt," a new legal thriller that has managed to get both Samuel L. Jackson and Dominic Cooper into the cinematic jury box.

It was only a matter of time before Duncan Jones entered the blockbuster world. His debut "Moon" managed a huge amount with a fairly slim budget, he stepped up to a bigger canvas effectively with "Source Code," and he's been linked with big projects like "The Wolverine," "Man Of Steel" and "Catching Fire" over the last few years. But the helmer, a keen videogamer, was finally lured to the megabudget world by "Warcraft," Legendary's adaptation of the popular series of fantasy video games.

Yes, we know Aaron Paul has a name but let's face it, we still can't forget "Breaking Bad" and neither can most folks considering how much the "alternate ending" to the series was passed around over the weekend. So, for our purposes at the moment, "Need For Speed" stars Jesse Pinkman and once again he's going to be yelling at stuff, have a pretty girl at this side all while trying to outfox a wily criminal.

Dominic Cooper Rumored For Freddie Mercury Biopic, Queen Feared Sacha Baron Cohen Would Be "A Joke"

The long-gestating Freddie Mercury biopic hit a snag this past summer when its lead, Sacha Baron Cohen, dropped out over disagreements with the surviving members of Queen over the direction of the film. Cohen pushed for R-rated and serious take on the frontman while Mercury’s family and bandmates apparently pushed for a PG and more family-friendly angle. Also, it seems that they were worried no one would take Cohen seriously. “We felt Sacha probably wasn’t right in the end. We didn’t want it to be a joke. We want people to be moved,” Queen drummer Roger Taylor told Mojo. Mercury’s estate is still pushing forward with their plans for the biopic, however, and two actors are being rumored to be in the running for music icon.
