Charlie Hunnam In Talks To Reteam With 'Pacific Rim' Director Guillermo Del Toro On 'Crimson Peak'

While we were a touch disappointed by the teaser trailer, we're still pretty amped to see Guillermo Del Toro's monsters vs. robots epic "Pacific Rim." In part it's because it's the "Pan's Labyrinth" director's first film in five years. In part, it's because it has ROBOTS FIGHTING MONSTERS. And in part, it's because of the sheer confidence that everyone involves seems to be showing. Warners have already commissioned a script for a sequel, and now, Del Toro has shown that he's happy with the job that his lead in the film, Charlie Hunnam, has done: by casting him in his next movie.

Though she's rightfully earned her claim to fame thanks to a string of comic roles, Emma Stone has slowly branching out. She's put on her blockbuster shoes with "The Amazing Spider-Man" franchise, gone down the drama route with "The Help" and last weekend gave a stab at playing the femme fatale in the guns and molls goof "Gangster Squad." But for one her next roles, she'll be heading into new territory.

For his third directorial effort following the genre mélange of action comedies “Zombieland” and “30 Minutes or Less,” Ruben Fleischer has taken a leap forward in scope and ambition, while taking the narrative back to 1940s Los Angeles. Inspired by the seven-part LA Times articles by Paul Lieberman, “Gangster Squad” charts the apex of NY gangster Mickey Cohen's westward reign, and the guerilla band of LAPD organized to bring it to an end. Armed with a passion for period detail and a modern sensibility, Fleischer has stepped up to the challenge with a fantastic cast behind him, and at the film's Beverly Hills press conference last month, stars Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Emma Stone -- along with screenwriter/former LAPD cop Will Beall and producers Dan Lin and Kevin McCormick -- joined the director in describing the experience of bringing the project to the screen.

Manifest Destiny lies beside its essential hubris in the period actioner “Gangster Squad,” but beyond the swaggering idealism seen through eponymous hoodlum Mickey Cohen (played by Sean Penn), the film's saturated grab bag of glossy homage proves its final shortcoming. With his third feature, “Zombieland” director Ruben Fleischer frames 1940s Los Angeles -- morally compromised, glamorous, and a monument to protect and exploit on both sides of the law -- to adapt Paul Lieberman's true-crime articles into cinematic legend, but in lieu of any sharp insight into the period and its notorious figures, the film's brash, ultraviolent encounters instead build a showy exterior with nothing of import left standing.

The only thing you need to know about "Movie 43" is that it features a ton of short comedy segments, with a bunch of stars, and if you don't like the one you're currently watching, you don't have to worry because the next one is just around the corner. While the first trailer did it's best to give a broad overview of what audiences are in for, this new, filthy red band spot narrows down the scope a bit more.

Earlier today we ran a feature on actors who should possibly fire their agents and set their careers in a new direction. But one guy who doesn't need that advice is Bradley Cooper. The actor will definitely turn heads in David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" next month, and he'll reteam with the helmer for his next feature shooting early in 2013. Plus, next year he features in Derek Cianfrance's "The Place Beyond The Pines" and Susanne Bier's "Serena" (and of course, he's back for one last run with the Wolfpack in "The Hangover Part III"). He's staying the course of working with interesting talent and material.

While this writer dosen't know an "iCarly" from an iPad, other (much younger) people do, and for those that care, this is the final season of the show. Single tear. And as such they're going out with a bang, lining up another big guest appearance (Michelle Obama, Jim Parsons and One Direction have all popped up previously) before everything wraps up next month.

What Emma Stone wants, Emma Stone gets? Back in August, the actress revealed that she was hoping her character of Gwen Stacey in "The Amazing Spider-Man" would stay true to the comics and meet an unfortunate end. “Essentially the argument is that Spider-Man kills her by accident,” Stone explained about the appeal of the storyline, “So the person she loves is the person who kills her, which is the most horrifying thing. Apparently people unsubscribed to the comic book when that happened because they were just so flipped-out over it. But, of course, I want to stay true to that.” Now, it looks like Sony will.

We're not sure if we'd go far as to describe it as 'troubled,' but "Gangster Squad" certainly hasn't had the best luck. The period actioner, directed by "Zombieland" helmer Ruben Fleischer, was one of Warner Bros' great hopes for 2012, with an A-list cast assembled including Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Josh Brolin and Sean Penn. But after the Aurora shootings in July, the studio made the decision to pull advertising for the movie, delay the release from September until January, and reshoot the ending (which was originally a gunfight in a movie theater).
