Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
The Weinstein Company (and their genre label Dimension) sure know how to exploit "negative" publicity. So when an alert lands in our mailbox about a poster for "Sin City: A Dame To Kill" for running foul of the MPAA, one has to wonder if the studio knew exactly what they were doing when submitting it in the first place. And in this case, we're pretty Harv and co. had a pretty good idea what would happen when this poster design went out the door.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
“Sex is absolutely what helps sell this movie, which is fine by me,” Jessica Alba told EW, and she's spot on about what's going to get audiences to buy tickets for this one. Oh sure, "Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" is a sequel to the groundbreaking hit "Sin City," but the movie also promises skin, sleaze and good old fashioned violence, and you can get a sense of all that with these new pics.

The Salvation
As much as we love the western genre, it appears Danish director Kristian Levring, (who was the fourth signatory of the Dogme95 movement, film history fans) loves it more. His "The Salvation," which plays in the Midnight Screenings section of Cannes, is a testament to that--a loving and in fact overly adulatory genre film which is not so much a take on the revenge Western as a deeply faithful recreation of it, at times so faithful as to veer dangerously close to pastiche.

The Salvation
Competition is obviously the most prestigious place to play during the Cannes Film Festival, but the riches of the fest is such that the sidebar sections often have terrific discoveries too. Two new first looks have arrived from two films playing outside competition. The first is Lisandro Alonso’s “Jauja” starring Viggo Mortensen. It’s playing in the Un Certain Regard section alongside films like Ryan Gosling’s debut “Lost River” and Ned Benson’s “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby.”

The Salvation
The last time Mads Mikkelsen was at Cannes, he walked away with a Best Actor award for his turn in "The Hunt." Now two years later, he'll be back walking the red carpet on the Croisette, but in something a bit different. Instead of a Competition film, the actor will be hoping to thrill audiences in the Midnight Screening selection "The Salvation." And the first trailer is here.

Penny Dreadful
Dear cable networks, we know you want to schedule all your hot new shows in the spring because you want to keep them in the brains of Emmy voters, but there are only so many hours in a day, and lord knows we don't have time to pick up on a new series each week. So, good luck to Showtime with putting "Penny Dreadful" on the same night as "Game Of Thrones," "Mad Men, "Turn," "Silicon Valley" and "Veep." Our DVRs are crying.

Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
Eva Green is certainly making an impression in 2014. She's already turning heads and wagging tongues thanks to a rather memorable sex scene in "300: Rise Of An Empire," and she looks ready to scare in Showtime's forthcoming series "Penny Dreadful." Additionally, at the end of the summer, she'll be vamping once again in "Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" as Ava Lord, and some new pics from the movie have arrived, highlighting her green eyes and much more of the cast.

Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
Eight years after audiences first visited the monochrome, rain slicked, bullet filled streets of "Sin City," are they ready to go there again? But to get there, the awkwardly titled "Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For" will need to make some major waves, and the first trailer is here to entice with more pulpy adventures.

300: Rise Of An Empire
In 2006, Zack Snyder took the movie world by storm with “300,” a muscular, testosterone-fueled adaptation of a Frank Miller swords-and-sandals graphic novel which took Robert Rodriguez’s“Sin City” concept—painting the comic book pages right onto the screen—to the next level, and arguably, its zenith. It was something of a game-changer and surprise runaway hit, cementing Snyder’s status as a tentpole-worthy filmmaker, grossing $450 million worldwide and transforming March into the early blockbuster season it is now.

300: Rise Of An Empire
Bring the earplugs, prepare the fake bronzer, and you might want to do some ab crunches—"300: Rise Of An Empire" is coming and it's gonna make you feel bad about that winter spare tire you've put on around the belly. The sequel to Zack Snyder's dudes and yelling flick "300" is imminent and a pretty decent taste has been unleashed.
