As we know by now with the MPAA: violence good, sex bad. And so today brings with it another tale of a movie that has made the ratings body just a bit too hot under the collar, but it also happens to be one of the biggest films of the year: "The Wolf Of Wall Street."

"Charlie Countryman" opens up with an arresting image, the titular character (played by Shia LaBeouf) dangling upside down in woozy slow-motion, his face brutally beaten and bloody. As the narrator (John Hurt) explains, Charlie Countryman is languishing in the wind about to be shot by a red-headed girl, and that the young man had to die. And he did it all for love.

It was only a matter of time before someone tried to fully exploit the social media age for the evils of the generic romantic comedy and "A Case Of You," a new Justin Long-led rom-com, does just that; abusing the Facebook platform to create the first FB stalker comedy. Somehow, everything creepy and vile in this Kat Coiro-directed comedy ("L!fe Happens") is meant to seem comically cute and not the restraining-order freaky that it clearly is. Like all of these meretricious and morally reprehensible culture-farts, it’s presented as harmless and adorable at heart, but as the central quintessentially dorky character becomes more and more fawning and subservient, the actors themselves seem to border on queasiness.

You may have forgotten, but way back at the beginning of the year, Ellen Page attached herself to the apocalyptic "Into The Forest," based on the novel by Jean Hegland. At the time, there were no directors, screenwriters, producers or other info available, but just like that, this project is filling out quite nicely.

What would you do for love? Everyone has their limits, but sometimes there is that one special person who takes us further than we ever thought possible, and Evan Rachel Wood may well be that person for Shia LaBeouf in "Charlie Countryman."

The film scene has gone too long without seeing Kimberly Peirce's name up on a screen — five years since the release of the director's second film, “Stop-Loss,” and nine years before that with her acclaimed 1999 debut, “Boys Don't Cry.” But while the latest occasion for Peirce behind the camera guides her down a new avenue into horror, helming a remake of “Carrie” starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, there were many intriguing directions explored in the years before it, as a recent profile reveals.

The quirk alert for "A Case Of You" goes off pretty early once you realize the love interest in the film is named Birdie Hazel, while Peter Dinklage plays a flamboyant barista with an unpronounceable name that rhymes with Gerard. Laughing yet? Then this rom-com might be for you.
