Brilliance Will Smith
Having just wrapped on the Glenn Ficarra/John Requa comedy “Focus,” it looks like Will Smith is ready to give the sci-fi genre another chance. He’s in talks to lead “Brilliance,” which is based on the Marcus Sakey novel of the same name. In a world where one percent of all children are born as “brilliants,” Will Smith plays federal agent Nick Cooper, a fellow brilliant who’s especially gifted at hunting down terrorists. But in order to track down a brilliant that’s been deemed the most dangerous man alive, Cooper will have to violate everything he believes in.

Hugh Jackman
For up-and-coming screenwriter Aaron Berg his first screenplay sale couldn't have gone any better. His script, titled "Section 6," sparked a bidding war, with Universal nabbing the rights and paying a cool $1.2 million for his thriller that "follows the World War I-era formation of British intelligence agency MI6 and its first director, Sir George Mansfield Cummings, who served as the inspiration for M in the 'James Bond' series." With a logline like that, it's no wonder that Hugh Jackman has taken a look at the material, while Justin Lin and Brett Ratner have also shown an interest as directors. No one is formally attached yet, but it's safe to say this one is going to get some major talent.

Despite the age difference, Genesis Rodriguez and Jennifer Beals are two actresses on a similar upward trajectory: newcomer Rodriguez is coming off a string of big-named efforts while Beals is riding on the coattails of successful stints on television. The two are now set to star in films that will have the city of New Orleans at the center of their plots.
