Earlier today there was the trailer for "The Purge," a movie that we didn't know was happening because it was so far off our radar. And then there's "The English Teacher," a movie this writer initially mistook for "Writers" aka "Stuck In Love," due to the (omnipresence?) of Greg Kinnear and Lily Collins. But just like that movie, it's another indie dramedy where good looking people can't seem to sort out their love life. And frankly, we expect much better from you, Julianne Moore.

Over the past few years, as Hollywood has drifted more and more towards $200-million-budgeted tentpoles, more filmmakers and actors have run into the warm embrace of television networks. The latest actor to make the move to a series? Greg Kinnear, and he’ll be getting some help from Sam Raimi.

About a week ago, word start burbling around the interwebs that Meryl Streep was looking to cameo in "Anchorman: The Legend Continues." Speaking with Shortlist, Steve Carell said about his "Hope Springs" co-star: "Meryl Streep told me she was a huge 'Anchorman' fan and she’d love to have a cameo in the sequel. That could be really funny. There are going to be plenty of great cameos in this movie." And while that notion is a fun one to think about, alas, it has not come pass.

Trying to get noticed amongst hundreds of films is tough, and though it premiered last fall at the Toronto International Film Festival, the indie dramedy "Writers" didn't make much of a splash. And while there hasn't been much heard about the film since then, a trailer has wormed its way online, giving a pretty extensive look at the film.

While TIFF will be playing host this year to a number of veteran directors unveiling their latest films, the festival will also be the proving grounds for a handful of first-time filmmakers who will be hoping to make an impression on audiences and the industry. And one of those folks is writer/director Josh Boone, who will be unspooling "Writers" starring Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman and Lily Collins. And with its premiere just days away, not only do we have two exclusive new images from the film, but we also got a chance to talk with Boone about making the film and promising soundtrack that's coming with it.

Sometimes, movies can spend years being put together (ahem, Terrence Malick), while on the other hand, they can occasionally be knocked out in no time flat. Welcome, to "Writers," the indie flick which shot back in the spring, and is gearing up for a World Premiere at TIFF in the fall.

This project has been building for the last month or so, and with cameras set to roll next week in North Carolina, there's no better time to gather up all the details in one place.

Review: 'I Don't Know How She Does It' Is A Pained, Unfunny, Politically Questionable Bore

One of the "charmingly neurotic" tics of the main character of "I Don't Know How She Does It," played brittlely and with affected strain by Sarah Jessica Parker, is making to-do lists. Since the year is 2011 and editing software has come a long way, we see her visualize the list as the prepares for sleep – everything from arranging her daughter's play date to doing some Kegel exercises (yes, seriously) – with words and small images appearing tattooed on the ceiling of her bohemian chic Boston apartment (accompanied by a never-ending stream of voice-over narration). While watching "I Don't Know How She Does It," which at a swift 89 minutes still feels longer than the "Three Colors" trilogy combined, you'll be tempted to make a similar mental inventory of things that you could (and should),instead of watching this wretched claptrap, which we're fairly certain has single-handedly set the feminist cause back a good 35-40 years.

Indie comedy "The English Teacher" is about to get an infusion of 1990's-flavored star power. Julianne Moore has signed on to play the title role, with Greg Kinnear in an unspecified supporting position (filthy!). Moore plays a small-town high school educator who has to deal with the unannounced return of a star pupil who crashed and burned trying to start a career in New York City. Moore eventually convinces the former student to direct his unproduced play at the high school, which yields all sorts of misunderstandings. Frankly, we'd rather see Amber Waves in this role than Moore, but perhaps that's our old high school teacher fantasies flaring up again. And again. And right there, again.

Hey, @RottenTomatoes, a review (from @jessicakiang of @ThePlaylist) on the #OnlyGodForgives page is counted as negative when it's a B. Why?
