Mortdecai
Johnny Depp evidently does what he pleases in between “Pirates Of The Caribbean” movies and installments of his newly-minted “Alice In Wonderland” franchise. So no matter how many chinks in his armor he's sustained via flops like “Transcendence,” “Dark Shadows," "The Rum Diary" and the now infamous “The Lone Ranger,” he always has his fallback cash-cows. One gets the impression that he considers poorly performing films as someone else’s problem: Depp appears in films that interest him and that’s that. His latest whimsy? Depp will star in “Mortdecai,” a James Bond-esque spy comedy revolving around a dapper idiot.

The Secret In Their Eyes Chiwetel Ejiofor Gwyneth Paltrow
First announced way back in 2010, not long after Argentinian film "The Secret In Their Eyes" won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, a remake was in the works at Warner Bros. with Billy Ray ("Shattered Glass," "Breach") slated to write and direct. The project hadn't shown signs of any real momentum, with word surfacing in 2011 that Denzel Washington had been offered the lead. He didn't take it, but two actors are now aboard with the movie now headed to the Cannes marketplace.

'Mortdecai'
Johnny Depp is a man of many faces, costumes, hairdos and appearances, obviously. His visages basically fall into two camps 1) looking like Johnny Depp’s “movie guy lead character” (i.e. that sort of generic look from “Transcendence” with those same round glasses he uses in so many of his “normal” roles) and 2) his wild and wacky transformations. But in this first look from his upcoming action comedy “Mortdecai,” well, maybe that appearance splits the difference.

Thanks For Sharing
It's safe to say that sex addiction is no longer the misunderstood step-brother to alcohol and drug addiction. Thanks to reality television, cable shows like "Californication" and last year's awards season contender "Shame," the stigma around sex addiction, of it not really being a problem or something that only affects scuzzy perverts, has long since evaported. Which makes Stuart Blumberg's directorial debut "Thanks For Sharing" all the more curious. An uneven, somewhat out-of-time dramedy, the film takes great pains to confirm that sex addiction is just like any other addiction, but isn't sure what to say beyond that.

If sex is like a drug, what happens when you get addicted? How do you navigate relationships, and keep your life in order? Those are the questions that power "The Kids Are All Right" writer Stuart Blumberg's directorial debut "Thanks For Sharing," a dramedy about that chronicles the struggles of a longtime sex addict who is eager not to be defined by his disease.

Sex addiction is a very real problem, but we're betting it's only at the movies where someone suffering from the disease would have Gwyneth Paltrow strutting around in lingerie in their apartment. But such is the battle Mark Ruffalo faces in the dramedy "Thanks For Sharing" from "The Kids Are All Right" writer Stuart Blumberg.

Well, if you put Johnny Depp in the center of a movie, other stars will likely orbit. As he gears up his next film, the comedy crime flick "Mortdecai," he's got a couple of magazine cover ready names getting ready to join him.

Who would have thought that sex addiction would become kind of... passé? Once a sort of taboo disease that made great fodder for tabloid talk shows, it's now positively mainstream, sitting alongside alcohol and drug addition as a treatable affliction you can learn to live with, with most folks now having a better understanding of what it's all about. But the movie world has yet to truly tackle the subject ("Shame" being one of the most high profile in recent years), but "Thanks For Sharing" will take a stab at it.

Best/worst Iron Man 3 feature
If you were in prison, comatose or pinned to the ground by a fallen armoire this weekend, it's possible you didn't see "Iron Man 3." All the rest of us, it seems, ignored our mothers' protestations and spent a couple of hours of this fine sunny summer weekend indoors in the dark, watching Robert Downey Jr. suit up as Tony Stark/Iron Man for his third solo outing. In fact, judging by these numbers, so did Mom. The "Iron Man" threequel (read about some others here) is already in the history books as the second biggest domestic opening of all time, right behind sister film "The Avengers," and looks on track to be another billion-dollar movie for the unprecedentedly successful Marvel Universe project. But with Shane Black a new recruit for the director's chair (Iron Throne?) and expectations vertiginously high for the launch of Phase Two, the finished film could be expected to show at least a few stretch marks. Our early review is here and since then, many of The Playlist have managed to catch up with it, so here's what we thought worked and what did not. **Spoilers abound.**

Iron Man 3
While the speculation has already started on the status of "Iron Man 4" a week before "Iron Man 3" even opens stateside, let's put our focus back on the third film for a moment. As our review states, it's a solid film, but what fans really need to know is that despite Marvel's proliferation of marketing, there are some truly big surprises that haven't even been hinted at. So don't worry, this isn't a movie that's been given away before it's been released (though now that it has open internationally, you might want to stay off message boards unless you want it spoiled).
