The Expendables 3
Well, here's a movie that won't be playing Cannes or coming anywhere near it: "The Expendables 3." It's not high art, and these things are barely movies at all, but they do have explosions and old dudes causing those explosions and that's all some folks need.

Harrison Ford, Blade Runner, Greedo
"Han shot first!" is what any "Star Wars" fan will rightly insist really happened in the original release release of "Star Wars." In case you somehow missed out, when George Lucas first released "Star Wars" in 1977, Han Solo found himself face-to-face with Greedo in Mos Eisley's cantina, with the alien looking to collect a debt Han owed to Jabba The Hut, and threatening the pilot's life with a blaster. But Han quickly dispatched Greedo, shooting him with a gun he kept hidden under the table. It was pretty cool. But for the 1997 theatrical release, George Lucas altered the scene, adding in footage that now had Greedo shooting first and missing, before Han fires back, killing him. Naturally, fans were incensed and to date, this is the only version of the scene available on DVD, and of the many tweaks Lucas made to his original trilogy after the fact, this is one of the most controversial. And now, Ford himself has weighed in.

Star Wars Harrison Ford
Just this week we learned from Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn that “Star Wars: Episode VII” has already begun filming and that casting is nearly complete, which means the search for the locked cast has only intensified. Aside from Adam Driver as the closest to a confirmed new role, a torrent of contenders including John Boyega, Ed Speelers, Matthew James Thomas, Ray Fisher, and Jesse Plemons have lingered still — so why not add a new potential frontrunner to the crowd?

The Expendables 3, Stallone
This summer, you're get a movie in which Kellan Lutz is considered as much of an action star as Arnold Schwarzenegger. Welcome the strange world of "The Expendables 3," a franchise which has morphed from "let's celebrate the action olds!" to "who can we get to up the irony factor?"

Celebrate Action Stars After 60
This week, Liam Neeson can be seen in “Non Stop,” the latest in a surprisingly active career as an action star. While Neeson has a history peppered with prestige films here and there, make no mistake, his most recent resumé consists of kicking ass and taking names. What no one mentions is that Neeson, who is soon scheduled to show up in a third “Taken” film, is actually a spectacular 61 years old, which is impressive considering the leaping, punching, and growling he’s done in recent years. Have you seen your parents lately? They can barely open the door and hoodies terrify them.

The Expendables 3 Trailer (skip crop)
While the line between irony and earnest action franchise continues to blur with each successive entry, "The Expendables 3" is doing what all sequels must: getting bigger. The cast is larger, the stakes are probably relatively higher and we're sure the insurance premiums would make an actuary faint. All this to say: the first teaser trailer is here.

“Raiders of the Lost Ark” was the first and either the best or the second-best of the Indiana Jones films (you know this to be true, commenters), and it now seems like such a stone-cold, well-known classic that it's hard to believe its 1981 release was a gamble of sorts. Sure, it had George Lucas and Steven Spielberg behind it, who at the time were amicably tied for the title of “most powerful film-maker in the world”: but the film appeared to be a hokey, intentionally old-fashioned attempt at a two-fisted tale about ne'er-do-well Nazis and shifty Arabs, starring that guy who played Han Solo in those movies about space. This could easily have been a “Lone Ranger”-type situation.

J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan may be pouring enormous effort into retooling writer Michael Arndt's original draft of “Star Wars: Episode VII," but after Disney's refusal of producer Kathleen Kennedy's request to consequently delay production, Abrams and co. are forced to also push right ahead with locking a cast to deliver it. Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher have already been involved in negotiations to return, but more curious are the new faces to the “Star Wars” universe, and the latest one rumored is an exciting prospect triggered by an uncertain sighting.
