Everything Nice Charlize Theron
If the Internet can’t convince Eon Productions to cast Idris Elba as James Bond, perhaps his new role can land him a villain gig in Bond 24. Elba is set to voice Shere Khan in Disney and Jon Favreau's take on “The Jungle Book.” Favreau will use live-action and VFX to bring the story to the screen. Expect to see this sooner than later as Disney is neck and neck with Warner Bros. with their own version of Rudyard Kipling’s classic.

A casting shakeup, sibling teamwork and an animated movie about gummy bears or something so let's get to it. First announced last spring, we kinda forgot about "Alive Alone," but it looks like it's gearing up though with a couple of changes.

Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom
Based on an inspiring true story, led in front of the camera by Idris Elba and guided behind the camera by Justin Chadwick ("The Fifth Grader"), it would seem that "Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom" would tick all the Oscar bait boxes with ease. And yet, ready to hit theaters next week, buzz is rather non-existent for the rigorously respectful film.

Idris Elba, Luke Cage
With the character Luke Cage moving to Netflix’s Marvel deal, this ship has likely sailed, but evidently “Pacific Rim star was talking to Marvel about playing the Powerman half of the Powerman & Iron Fist duo (both of them are getting separate shows as part of the Marvel/Netflix deal).

With the “Entourage” movie officially “a go” and the ensemble of bros -- brosemble?-- locked up, it’s time to finalize the most important part of any possible “Entourage” movie, which hottie will be the object of Adrian Grenier’s affections? The Wrap reports that the unique thespian talents of Kate Upton are being sought for “the female lead.” If she lands the role it’ll be only her fourth big-screen appearance, following her casting earlier this year opposite Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann in “The Other Woman.”

With little in the way of critical buzz to build on, "Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom" serves up a bit of a marketing conundrum for The Weinstein Company. So far, it seems they've decided to solve that problem with U2 songs and numerous clips, and today comes more scenes and images from the movie.

The first "Thor" movie was something of a risk for Marvel. Wisecracking Robert Downey Jr. in a (relatively) grounded real world setting was one thing, but a Viking god from space, played by a complete unknown and directed by a man best known for Shakespeare adaptations was quite another. But the 2011 film, while flawed in many ways, proved surprisingly entertaining and teed up both its title character and his villainous brother Loki for a return appearance in the team-up movie "The Avengers," which turned out to be an absolute megahit. As such, the studio must be feeling on surer ground with "Thor: The Dark World."

The success of “Luther” and numerous other film roles have allowed a bevy of reference points for fans of Idris Elba, but none has risen quite so high in people's minds as the actor's role of Stringer Bell on HBO's “The Wire.” You'd have been hard-pressed to find someone who actually thought Elba was British, so spot-on was Elba's American accent in the Baltimore-set show, but while it exists for many in their top few slots of the greatest shows ever, one person behind on the whole phenomenon has turned out to be Elba himself.

Mandela: Walk To Freedom
We're not sure if U2 is exactly the best choice to write a song for "Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom," but Bono and company have long been supporters of the South African leader, and certainly one of the most high profile, and Harvey Weinstein didn't waste much time in making sure they added an extra promotional flavor to his movie. Something he's no stranger to doing.
