A film adaptation of "Long Walk To Freedom," Nelson Mandela's memoir of his time in prison under South African apartheid, his subsequent release, and rise to the presidency, has been, ironically, a long time coming. Back in the 1990s, "Elizabeth" director Shekhar Kapur was attached to direct a version starring Morgan Freeman as Mandela, but the project never came together, and Freeman would later take on the role in Clint Eastwood's "Invictus." More recently, Tom Hooper flirted with the project before "The King's Speech" got underway and sent him into the stratosphere, but again, the stars never aligned properly.

There has been no shortage of portrayals of freedom fighter Nelson Mandela, and given his courageous story, which still resonates and inspires to this day, it's not exactly a surprise. But the past few years have seen an uptick of the man on screens, both big and small. Of course, Morgan Freeman took on the part in Clint Eastwood's "Invictus," while David Harewood and Terrence Howard both inhabited the man for "Mrs. Mandela" and "Winnie" respectively. And there's more on the way. Last month Variety revealed that a biopic mini-series was in the works for U.K. TV titled "Madiba" and based on "Conversations with Myself" and "Nelson Mandela by Himself." But it seems it will be contending with another long brewing project, that has landed a freshly minted Golden Globe winner for the lead.

If Osama Bin Laden weren't already dead, we might fear for his safety purely based on the strength of the cast Kathryn Bigelow is assembling for her (still untitled) "Kill Bin Laden" flick. Oscar winner Mark Boal ("The Hurt Locker") wrote the script and Joel Edgerton and Jessica Chastain will head a cast that also includes Mark Strong (as a good guy this time...surely?), Jason Clarke, Edgar Ramirez, Kyle Chandler and Chris Pratt. And now the production has added two more to bolster that cast.

Review: 'Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance' Is A Metal Album In Cinematic Form

The Marvel Comics character of Ghost Rider has always been more than a little alternative. Considerably darker and more haunted that contemporaries like Spider-Man and the Hulk, the demonic creation of trio Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich and Mike Ploog found himself starring in more horror-centric stories, only ocassionally clashing with sunnier heroes in sales-boosting stunts. While the comic creation existed on the fringe of the industry, Mark Steven Johnson's 2007 adaptation "Ghost Rider" was a far more generic, populist attempt to appeal to the masses. It was, by design, a pop song, except it viewed itself as a catchier Massive Attack track when it was more of an O-Town b-side. Bring the kiddies.

While talking to British movie magazine Empire, Mark Neveldine, one half of the Neveldine/Taylor directorial partnership behind the two "Crank" movies, has let slip some information that will allow us to all sleep a little more peacefully tonight. Yes, by god, they want to make a "Crank 3." And what's more -- it might co-star one of their "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" principles. Hallelujah.

You may or may not have seen any of "Luther," a crime procedural from the BBC that stars "The Wire" breakout Idris Elba as the titular cop, the kind of rule-eschewing maverick that cliches are made of. We wouldn't blame you for skipping it by, on BBC America or elsewhere, but it's actually a ton of fun for fans of the genre, partly thanks to the excellent performances of Elba (who was Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated), and Ruth Wilson, as his Hannibal Lecter-style nemesis/BFF, and partly because it embraces its own so ridiculousness with a big warm hug. There are few other shows that would see a Satanist villian lick a woman's face in the opening few minutes.

Few movies have sparked as much speculation, excitement, and unease (just think of the potential disappointment!) as Ridley Scott's upcoming "Prometheus," which promises to return the famed director to the "Alien" universe that shot him into the directorial stratosphere. What, exactly, "Prometheus" is remains something of a mystery, but these new images, set to appear in next week's Entertainment Weekly, sheds a little bit of light. At the very least, they just upped the intrigue factor, at least for us.

Comic-Con wrapped up over a week ago so we're kind of surprised it's taken this long for this to happen, but some pretty grainy, lo-res but no less intriguing snaps from the "Prometheus" footage shown in San Diego have made it to the web, providing us our first look at Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and Idris Elba in the film.

'Spirit Of Vengeance' Co-Star Idris Elba Says He Would Love To Play 'Power Man' Character Luke CageBookended by a title card that read “fucking your shit up in 3D February 2012,” the "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" footage showcased co-directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor's particularly physical style of filmmaking. Both filmmakers ran cameras simultaneously in certain shots, Taylor held on to moving motorcycles wearing only rollerblades as he filmed the action, and the two of them generally disregarded their personal safety as they shot some fairly epic action sequences. When asked whether they’ve ever been hurt, Neveldine knocked on the table and said, “Nope – and we would never ask stunt men or actors to do anything we wouldn’t do.” They added that they always try to include any shots where stunt men injure themselves, as a tribute to their efforts: “You will see real bones breaking in this movie,” Taylor said.
