Earlier this week, when the wild new trailer for Gore Verbinski’s big-screen “The Lone Ranger” premiered online, we noticed a curious credit – as the film’s composer, the trailer listed workhorse (and Disney favorite) Hans Zimmer instead of the previously announced Jack White. We didn’t want to jump the gun and announce White’s removal, since Zimmer has had a history of collaborating with other musicians (most recently with Rodrigo y Gabriela on "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides"). But alas, our original inclination was correct – Jack White is off “The Lone Ranger,” and Hans Zimmer is on.

The filmmakers behind "The Lone Ranger" haven't been wasting any time in getting the word out that this won't just be a standard reboot of the show your Dad falls asleep watching reruns of on the couch at 2 a.m. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted out the first look at Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer over a month ago, and the cast hasn't been camera shy with people dropping by the set either. But this is perhaps the biggest indication that it will be a departure from the television staple.

Given that the form has given the world game-changing helmers in both the blockbuster and arthouse worlds, it's always important to keep an eye on promos, and indeed, one could argue that there's more invention to be found in the short-form than there is in features. So, with no further ado, the five best music videos we've seen in the last few weeks. As ever, any tips and suggestions are more than welcome.

Also Updates On 'Mother Trucker,' Discusses 'Hustle & Flow' Sequel Pitch Craig Brewer causes a few differences in opinion here at The Playlist. Some of us find his two big films to date, "Hustle & Flow" and "Black Snake Moan" somewhere between overrated and terrible, while this writer happens to find both grimy fun, with some smart things to say about racial and sexual politics, and an unusually good sense of musicality. Whichever side of the fence you fall, there can't have been many who were happy when Brewer signed on to direct the long-in-the-offing remake of "Footloose" for Paramount, which hits theaters in October.
